Re: THIS SIDE UP
Very creative and well done. Its funny when the box the toy comes in is more fun then the actual toy isn't it?

Nice... I was also working on a similar box to expand on my earlier contribution... though it is not as exciting as yours.

this is nice but Woot has printed a kid in a box flying already ![]()

Really?? which derby was that? I don't have an intimate knowledge of all previous shirts. How close is it to mine in composition?
smashford12 wrote:this is nice but Woot has printed a kid in a box flying already
I have not seen such a shirt myself... Please expound...

Re: THIS SIDE UP
Here's the previous print: clicky.
While the execution is a bit different, the underlying concept (using your imagination in a cardboard box) is the same.
Rejection worthy? Meh. Depends on how bad today's hangover is.

Just because similar elements exist... does not mean the artwork was not original.

Eh, it doesnt show flight per se just a kid sitting in a box imagining a bunch of stuff, which is cool, but I went a little different way both content wise and stylistically. If they reject it because they both use cardboard boxes then they have to reject A LOT of other entries because of previously used elements (ie penguins with goggles, flying fish, paper cranes etc). Anyways, thanks for the heads up. Hopefully it'll be ok ![]()

Welcome... I just think it was cool that we were working on the same shirt at virtually the same time.
I know my shirt had no chance of winning, but zenith1047's suggestion caught my attention...

Re: THIS SIDE UP
Yeah I saw your comments after I had posted and had some time to look at some of the other entries. I was wayy busy this week/end and wasn't able to get something up sooner which I'm bummed about but I'm trying to finish up another comp right now for a new shirt. Let's see if I can get it done fast enough ![]()

Good Luck!

Those are two different reasons Woot uses to reject. "Similar shirts esist" just means that similar shirts have been printed somewhere, some time. And the amount of similarity depends on Woot's opinion of the day. It can just be a similar theme, while the actual design is very different.
Not original work is whole different thing.

I agree... but the thread started with the following post...

Sometimes I understand Woot's definition of "similar" and sometimes it baffles me. I've given up trying to figure it out. Sometimes it's one shirt with a similar concept that's enough, and sometimes a dozen aren't too many. Ya never know.
Personally, I like the idea of a kid in a box. They're both cute.

Well done, i remember flying in a "Airplane Box". I hope it prints, i would buy one. Brings us all back to the good ol' days. Remember the fort in the kitchen made of 4 chairs and a blanket? That was my Airplane Hanger.
Thanks,
Re: THIS SIDE UP
I really like this well done! The clouds have a great feel to them and the expression of the child is excellent
Re: THIS SIDE UP
Nicely done. I like it. GMV.
johnnykosher wrote:I really like this well done! The clouds have a great feel to them and the expression of the child is excellent
Thanks. The kid and box actually went really fast for me, the thing that took the longest was actually the clouds because I couldn't get them just the way I wanted. I still have some reservations about them but at certain point you have to just put the tablet down ![]()
Re: THIS SIDE UP
I think when I was shorter, my box was a always boat but I love this...no wonder it fogged so fast.
Re: THIS SIDE UP
They should sell aviator goggles packaged in way oversized boxes, just for kids. +1

or alternately, it hasn't fogged yet + I desperately need caffeine. Good luck.
Re: THIS SIDE UP
I love this! It gives me that warm fuzzy feeling of being carefree and lost in my imagination...
tjost wrote:Cardboard boxes are the greatest kids toy ever...
Agreed! Very cute idea, and nicely incorporated on the shirt.
Re: THIS SIDE UP
Aw! I love this. GMV
Re: THIS SIDE UP
Gotta admit I totally did this as a kid after watching this one Rugrats episode where they used boxes...LOL
Re: THIS SIDE UP
I love it.

Thanks Walmazan. I like your rocket piece, though I'm afraid of the end consequences to the poor little guy once it reaches it's apex :s ... boom
