Love the composition but the purple triangle is throwing me off. I'm not sure what it's there for. Got my vote and buy, though.

I've noticed that Edgar's used triangles several times in his compostitions. I think the one he did with God had God as a triangle too... interesting. Some hidden meaning perhaps?

I've wondered about that too.

Creepy, but I really like all the little birds..

Oh, Edgar. It's fabulous (I'm running out of reasonable superlatives here; I'll soon have to resort to unrestrained stream-of-consciousness nonsense to describe my joy with your art).

The entire avian kingdom is your playground this week, from the beautiful vulture to the graceful kiwi to the delicious ostrich. If it's got feathers, it's fair game, and there's no bag limit on this hunt.

I've highlighted some important sections for you. Basically this week if you have a bird it's on topic.

The fact that you would come at this one is extremely strange though. Given the hilarious juxtaposition of the high quality design you are criticizing and the extremely low quality design you're supporting in your sig, I'm not really that surprised.

Do not sully Edgar's design thread with such allusions. YOU HEAR ME?!! I don't care that you were complimenting Edgar. It was disrespectful and a comparison that invites people to call you out. It was INAPPROPRIATE and you need to CONTROL YOURSELF herein. I expect better of you.

You may now sit down and think hard about what you wrote whilst I frown VERY FIERCELY at you.

Oh, come on people - why isn't this still in the fog??? Vote - you've got to vote. I'll never understand why Edgar never seems to get the credit for both amazing, creative design and unbelievable execution when he is among only a handful of artists here who continually produces both. Let's put this design back where it belongs - in the fog!!!

One of my non-artist friends asked me why this was *in* the fog - I told him not to worry, it's Edgar and it wouldn't be there long. Sometimes I'm sad to be right.

At the risk of being yelled at for not gushing praise, I gotta say at fist glance I thought that the bird king had stolen the crown of thorns from "Jesus" who I first thought the person dangling on the right was. I think it's the dangler's positioning... not saying I don't like the shirt, just throwing my thought out there....

It was written tongue in cheek. Guess I didn't convey that clearly enough. I intended the very last line to be indicative of my not-so-seriousness (come on, who "frown[s] VERY FIERCELY" at someone with whom they are truly angry?).

Great illustration as usual. Your style of drawing is full of expression, and always works to an amazing final result, even on a plain white shirt. Besides that, I have to agree with has been said here before, that the triangle on the background wasn´t really needed and it doesn´t add anything to the composition.

Oh Edgar, you have made my heart sing once again. I just wish you didn't put your designs on white so often. I just don't wear white tees. But this design brings a big smile to my face, just as so many of your other designs have in the past.

I've said it before and I'll say it again....I would love to spend a day inside your head. It must be such a magical place :D

I would second the idea of Edgar publishing a book of his designs. I'd buy one in a second. Or even offering some of his designs in poster format....

Given how off the wall and odd his work is, and how much woot voters seem to love generic stuff, yep. To be honest, I'm genuinely surprised that "Air" did as well as it did in its derbies (8th in the Air and 7th in the Double-Takes derbies, I think), considering that that's arguably his best, and some of his strangest and most beautiful, work on this site.

One of the main reason I don't like this shirt actually. I haven't looked up any of this artists other shirts yet, but this one, if it is like any other shirt he does I would not buy it even if it was in a thrift store for a buck. He is using to many religious symbols (or things that resemble them), his art style is too sketchy (unless it is done VERY well I don't like colors out of the positive/negative space they are suppose to fill), I know every one gets on another artist for this, but all the faces to me feel very dead then again I get that feeling when none of the birds have colored eyes just the empty white gaze of a zombie.
It looks like a Saturday morning editorial cartoon that the editor was to bored to really come up with anything amusing. I'm sorry but I don't get nor feel the love for this shirt. Again unless its interesting I probably wont reply back. Not trying to start a flame war just stating my opinion.

I can't speak about the religious references (I see them, but they don't bother me because I'm not very religious, and my favorite religious icon happens to be Saint Sebastian anyway), but I trust that you are not alone in your feelings with regard to Edgar's style. I don't always like it myself, and it took me a while to warm up to it in the first place. Some of my friends have asked me about it and I couldn't really give them a response. You either like it or you don't. And the voting trends suggest that more people fall into the latter category than the former.

The "dead eyes" in this particular design work well for the design because it's already a sort of surreal/absurd situation, and the eyes add to that creepy, dreamlike effect. How well they work in other designer's images varies on what the designer is trying to convey.

Bingo. Edgar's got a surreal style. The eyes are "dead" in an almost literal sense, but they're far from devoid of emotion or energy. They're integral to the design's tone, which might not be for everyone. The "other artist" mentioned, on the other hand, has shown time and time again no ability to convey anything through characters' eyes, no matter what the design.
