Re: Argyle Formations v2

Ok I know this won't win especially subbed as late as it is, but after looking at my first version I kept getting too much of a holiday type design which I didn't mean. So here's a little recoloring (yes I know that the birds/crows will fade into the shirt, but thats kinda the point) Hope you guys like this one better. Thanks

The more subtle version is better (not as busy with this colorway!). I'd also be down for a one-row argyle...

Either way, love me some argyle!

My initial reaction was 'meh', but after looking at it for a while I have grown to like it. Good design, and for what it's worth you GMV.

Personally, I think that the white on cranberry was better. Such a subtle palette, especially on asphalt, will be nearly invisible. As it stands, black on asphalt nearly disappears. I think, had you gone with more traditional argyle colors (perhaps a burgundy and a creme, or went with a two-tone grey scheme that was a little more visually impressive) and actually mixed the details on the asphalt, you could have come up with a stronger concept. Then you would have seen the argyle first, and the birds second... and I get the impression that's the effect you were trying to achieve, not just show birds. However, I could be wrong on that last part.

You mean I have to recolor it a third time?? what color shirt would you suggest if I did traditional colors for the design still on the grey or something else?

I like them both! but the cranberry would be a real stand-out in my collection of mostly dark tees :D

Nice work Tjost. Argyle on t-shirts seems to be in lately, I see it everywhere!;)

I prefer the other version, but both are very excellent.

Honestly, I think that cranberry/dark fuschia on asphalt would really pop in a very subtle, fun way. There's a tee from Threadless, 98 Different Creatures, whose colour scheme would work beautifully with your design; I own the shirt and it's one of my favorites in large part because of its extremely subtle (as in, you wouldn't think it's wow, but it totally is) but perfect colour scheme.
This is a moot point, of course, unless you resub this design elsewhere, as it's too late for recolour herein. But I love your concept and execution, and I think that the correct colour scheme would really make this design just BOOM, y'know?

Also, primarily, most importantly, huge-duh-don't-ever-do-it, black on asphalt = this.

Honestly Tjost, I like both color schemes. The black on asphalt is more subtle than the white on cranberry, but I think I like the fact that you would really have to look at the design to see the birds and really get the whole design.
That said if either version prints, my mom (avid bird watcher) is getting one of them!!

Sometimes I like the illustrations but I would never see myself wearing the shirt. THIS I would wear and give as a gift. It's subtle and interesting. I wish you had submitted sooner. I think you would have done well with this.

I'm not a fan of the argyle, but I like the suggestion above to use some traditional "argyle" type colors on the asphalt shirt.

Also, this makes me think of a gray shirt with a single large crow in it, distressed - probably the flying crow from the center of the argyle diamonds. That would be cool.
