Aw, cool! I vaguely remember something like this from back in the day. I must have been really young at the time. haha.

I still see Mr. Men stuff popping up in random places these days. I'm sure I've seen recent kids' books with them, so it must still be alive just like Sesame Street.

I have some that I read to my kid. They're still around. They're great.

I loved those books as a kid! Great job taking the style and putting your own twist on it by creating new characters from songs. Awesome idea, gmv
I'm slightly worried about copyright but since they are your own characters, should be ok, right?? Ah oh well. gmv unless it gets rejected =)

Not sure if it's just the computer that I'm viewing this on, but the color of your shirt, and the background color on your design seem different.
Shirt looks white, background looks cream.
If it's a problem (and not just with my silly work computer), hopefully you'll be able to fix it in time.

Woohoo! Love Mr. Blue Sky and especially The Delgados cover. Anyway, this is a sweet shirt. GMV.

AdderXYU wrote:I think this would be much stronger if the references weren't so mixed. Hargreaves' characters are classic enough to feel vintage, indeed, especially on a "washed out" creme blank, but going from Mr. Tambourine Man to Mr. Brightside adds a little too much clash for me. Not that Mr. Brightside isn't my favorite of all the characters (if not my favorite reference). I just think that sticking either with the classic references (which would make it seem more retro) or the more modern ones (which would play off the classic nature of the style) would make this much more solid.

I kind of agree. It would be much stronger if for instance you did all modern references it would fit in with "new vintage".

But I'm voting for this shirt for the Mr. Brightside reference. Good refernece.

thanks for all the great feedback and constructive criticism!

It looks like this version is preferred overall, so I'll take the new one down. Thanks again!

Any shirt that has you listening to great new music deserves to win.

Plus, Mr. Brightside is so different from what I would have imagined it to be, and still great.

The people have spoken (although I miss Mr. Roboto too). Any way you slice it this is a great shirt. The execution is spot on, Riffmaster18.

yep! the Mr Men style was developed in the 70s, very vintage cartooning style. Also the use of Futura Bold...although it's still used a lot, definitely a vintage font

There's even a new Mr. Men cartoon that is running on some kids' channel or other.

When i first saw this i thought it had something to do with those arby's "kids" they had in their kids meals years ago, but now i see that it's much better than that. So much better.

Yeah, I grew up with Mr. Men stuff in the 80s that were all hand-me-downs. This stuff is definitely vintage, and the font is directly from the Mr. Men books that I had. Brought back good memories

That said, the shirt color in the comp doesn't match the illustration... One is clearly white to me, the other is clearly cream. Which is it supposed to be?

it's creme, I pulled the shirt image from the American Apparel site, but it could vary slightly with different monitors
