Cool. Knot in the wood for the eye is a great touch.

Good job, but didn't someone already post the same idea on the derby thread?

This is amazing. I especially like the knot-as-eye detail.

Thanks and I assure you that I did not steal that persons idea. I can't prove it but this design was completed before that was even posted to the thread.

I think that this happens more than people realize. I started working on a Lord of the Flies/Charlotte's Web design and just decided to do something different. A few hours later capedcrusader's design was in the pre-derby thread.

You're right, I've seen it happen a couple times before. Maybe everyone should post their ideas on the thread more often.. might prevent such accusations.

Half the entries contain Moby Di.ck so there was bound to be some duplicate ideas, they are executed in completely different ways in any case.

Muted, summery colors. It's a nice retro vibe and you can pick out the two references right away.

Kate's is far more cartoonish and Lol, while this is a smile and a nod of recognition. There's room for both. And this is just so pretty...

subtle + brilliant (made me fond for a brief moment of Melville, which never happens as my first introduction was Bartleby the Scrivener)

I also love that how the top of the house resembles a boat and the trees and clouds look like waves.

Was that intentional?
