Are those equations actually anything (besides earth's gravity, that one I know)

Is gravity, plus inertia (diagnol equation) combined with the equation for the longitudal wave (horizontal equation)

Sigh, why must math encroach on the simple pleasure of a slinky? Curse you math.

If this is accurate, I think this is my favorite in the derby so far.

I think the submitter was thinking of

Ek as Kinetic Energy.

I would not wear this shirt. However, for all my physics-loving friends, I vote for this on behalf of them.

eek! I LOVE this design, except the cream t-shirts are so...bleh! Why, oh why can't it be a more whimsical color, whimsical like the Slinky itself??

Re: How a slinky works

I have a story:

There once was a slinky without any rotational energy. He didn't go anywhere. The End.

If you add (Iω^2)/2 to the Kinetic Energy equation the slinky would live happily ever after... until he hit a bannister or something...

That being said, I like the shirt anyways GMV.

I'm loving this design, put my vote on this one because I hope it wins - BUT, REALLY not a fan of shirt colour. I voted but I may or may not buy it just because of that...

Nobody ever told me there could be thinking involved with a slinky! The equations make my brain want to melt.

This is beautiful and simple. But i agree, the shirt color could be better.

Re: How a slinky works

I like the concept... But the shirt itself is a bit off. First of all, the color is pretty terrible. Also would love it if the equations were formatted better, instead of it all being one line...

And as a previous commenter mentioned, slinkies do have rotational energy.

Really great idea, though. If it was done better I would wear it.

Spring Shirt! Perfect - if you don't win, it can go in the next derby! (but good luck in this one!)

Re: How a slinky works

The vertical equation appears to be the rate of free fall. Since at least part of the slinky is always in contact with the stairs, I'm not sure if "Free fall" would apply.
