Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
Here you can see a comparative to show how the size of the haltone has increased a lot:

Special thanks to streetwalkincheetah, anjulka, residentgeek and differentdrum. I wasn't going to resub before they talked to me, thank you guys!
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
I voted and am super happy you re-subbed. Love this!
Very nice use of colors with halftones.

Yes ,mikenytola, That pic were my principal reference of many other reference pics. I took the pose from that photo, anything wrong about that?
mikenytola wrote:Woot generally doesn't allow designs made from photos unless it is your own photo. I'm not saying you did a bad job as I think the details and coloring is nice. But hey, I could be wrong as it's up to woot to decide.
I'm new at woot so you probably know more than me about this
In this case, I drew a skelleton with the pose of the photo, and then continued drawing looking at the rest of my reference photos. I don't think that use reference photos is a bad thing.
Anyway, woot decide
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
Cool! Not a fan of the green shirt though..would love it on orange!

Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
Revoted, still looks great!
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
I would totally rock this shirt. Not sure how on-derby-topic it is but I absolutely love the design no doubt about it.

People use reference photos in artwork all the time. I was always told that using a reference photo when drawing was fine (and in fact was often encouraged to do so), as long as I didn't trace the photo. In this case, I think the drawing is reminiscent of the reference photo, but isn't so much alike that it makes me think you might have traced it. Just my opinion.
Personally, I love this illustration and think you did a great job with it!
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
I use reference photos all the time. As long as it's not directly "live-traced" I think it's fine. Nice job, Naolito.
Edit: "Live trace" refers to an automated function in Adobe Illustrator, where you can import a photo and the computer "traces" the image or does the work for you.
@tattooedbear-Ha, the next time you "live trace" your model, use a softer lead pencil. ;)

I tried live tracing once. My model ended up with scars all over him.
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
love the colors on this one! ;j

Hahaha
Thank guys, of course it's not live trace, I didn't even overpainted it, I just take the "skelleton" from it, the pose (i don't know how to tell this in english)
Naolito - I am experimenting with half-tones for the first time. Can you tell me what was the cell size you used on the resub?
Thanks!
Great job on the resub. The colors are still awesome. Glad you decided to give it another shot.
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
If the shirt is black this will look very good ![]()

Can I submit another color option while this is still here??
Naolito wrote:Can I submit another color option while this is still here??
You can submit a different color version while this one is up but you will probably split your vote if you do. I wouldn't suggest it since you're right outside of the fog.
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
Dude, nice job on the chameleon. You know you have a great design when it fogs, gets rejected, gets resubmitted, and then fogs again. I hope you get a prize for your efforts. Good Luck!

I'm not one for green shirts... but this one is an exception
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
Yay! I'm so glad you redid it. It looks much better without the branch out of the head, too.
And I really like it on green. On black, I feel like it would look like sooooo many other shirts.
*crosses fingers for a print* I want this shirt!
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
I love this shirt.
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
Thanks guys!! I'm really happy to be in the fog again. This is my first work done for a derby, and I can't wait for the next one!! :D
Thanks again everyone for your votes and comments!
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
Nicely drawn, and nice color choice for the intent of the piece, but I'm not a fan of this style of half-tone usage. I mean, it looks great at a distance, but close up, it's kinda looks like a mess to me. Also, heavy saturation on the shirt = unhappy when perspiring.
Re: Confused chameleon RESUB
A colorful simple design that can be worn at any time, I hope this wins.
