Re: A Breath of Fresh Water

Inspired by the turtles of the gulf coast (and shirts that actually win derbies).

(forgive me if there's anything screwy...just spent the last 7 hours in the emergency room with my 18 month old daughter - she had a 104 fever and a nasty UTI apparently...haven't slept yet)

You just put a smile on my face. Seriously, after last night/today I needed that.

Thanks!

Wow! I love the design enough to break my self-imposed embargo on turtle-related stuff ('cause it was getting a little out of control)... but I can't help imagining a turtle inhaling a big old lungful of water and then choking and drowning. So I guess I'm a little conflicted, here. Maybe a fish or a larval/paedomorphic salamander... but they just wouldn't have been as cute.

Thanks!

The little one is doing better now that she's not being poked & prodded by ER staff. Her fever is coming down a little bit, and she's eating again too. Good times. Still cranky as all get-out though, but I guess with a UTI that's understandable.

Hahaha...yeah...that was something I thought about actually. Also thought about saying "Breath of Fresh Air," but it wouldn't have looked as good with the design IMHO. Either way, glad ya like it! Tell a friend (or 200 if ya want me to catch up and print).

Glad she is doing much better.

Me too. Nothing like saying to yourself, "Hey, I'm gonna finish up this design & go to bed," only to have your wife come out of the room with a thermometer reading 104 and telling you to grab your stuff to head to the ER. Spent about 4 hours just waiting in the ER (starting around midnight) and finally got out of there around 6:30 in the morning. Got to see our share of junkies, drunks, a guy with fiberglass in both of his eyes, etc. Luckily our daughter was in a good enough mood to play with a little 3 year old boy with a nasty forehead gash for most of the time as we waited. Good times!

I like this design and wish it had a chance to win this derby but I suspect it's not trippy enough. Therefore, I hope you're able to do a similarly inspired design sometime down the road in another derby.

Part of the problem also being that I didn't submit it until late Sunday morning, while other designs had been stacking up votes since noon on Friday.

I really do wish there were more of a lag between the announcing of the theme and the display/voting on submissions. Like, people could start submitting on Friday at noon, but that nothing would be enabled for voting until Monday maybe? I think we'd end up with more high-quality designs that stood an equal chance of printing. Designs could still be displayed for viewing as soon as they were posted, so Woot wouldn't lose any ad revenue from people stopping in to look at the designs. It'd even give people a good chance for feedback on designs and a chance to resubmit with changes made without starting their vote total over from scratch.

Anyway...(steps off soapbox).

These colors look really nice on Navy, I like your choices. And putting wings on an emblem always makes it look better!

I have a weird tendency to that myself. ^__^
