Well worth the effort. A very clever piece of art! Love the earring.
I'll buy one for the conversations this shirt will generate.
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
I don't know why my other comment is not showing up but I said this shirt is well worth your efforts. It's worth buying not only because it's a great piece of art but also because of all the conversations that will be generated from it. AND...I love the earring! ![]()
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
I personally like the other version that's been up for hours. but that's just me. Just slapping a quote and then putting Willy's face on it does nothing for me.
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
I really don't know why Adder's post was removed... because I do feel my idea was taken. And I was worried that it would basically be the same when tjost posted in my thread. Sure, you used William Shakespeare, but you didn't tie the quote into the artwork.
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
This is so clever! I love the "Mr. Clean" cleansed conscience guarantee
I think the reference is clear and it's a very different interpretation from the other art that used this quote. Well done, tjost!

I understand your upset because I used the same quote from Macbeth, but I went in a bit of a different direction then you did. You did an actual representation of Lady Macbeth with the full quote as your piece. I went with a pun instead, both in words and visually. I tied in the Mr. Clean aspect because of the bald head shared in common between the two and the earing you see in all drawings of the bard just like the big guy.
Using a quote also wasn't required for this derby (as shown in most entries) so the fact that I didn't tie in the whole thing shouldn't even matter. If you don't get the tie in of the image to the words I'm sorry. Saying it's basically the same thing as yours is also not true, both in final concept and stylistic execution. And as past derbies show, including this one, people will have similar ideas (how many spear shaking entries do we have this go around).
Again I'm sorry I used the same (or at least partially the same) quote and the fact that we both have cleaner in our pieces, but that's where the similarities end. I had the idea for this piece Friday morning but wasn't able to start working on it till today. Sorry again for being upset. I didn't get a chance to see what Adder wrote but if it's important I'm sure he'll PM me, though I won't hold my breath ![]()
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
I want this shirt whether or not it wins. It's hilarious.

These are two very different shirts.
Get over it.

It wouldn't have even come up if he hadn't posted about this in my thread, that's all.
Don't think I am throwing a hissy fit. I'm just a little disappointed.

Again sorry if your upset, but I think that though we used some of the same source material we both came up with different and unique ideas. I don't think your throwing a hissy fit.

Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
Love it, tjost!
A very original take on that famous line, and oh so wearable. ^_^
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
This is awesome TJost! I'm not a huge Shakes fan, but this is actually extremely well done and something I would wear. The execution really nails the concept, as it looks just like a Brawny logo, hahaha. Tho I like this better than the actual Brawny guy...he's creepy for some reason. +1!
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
This is too awesome in two many ways! Love your work!
who'da thought the Bard belonged to 24th night gym
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
I definitely want one, I'm going to tell everyone it's the only thing that *really* removes all the blood. ;-)

If an Adder post was removed, it was due to his inadequate rambunctious wildebeasting mechanism. These designs do not resemble one another in any substantial way. Since the core concept resides with a man dead these 400 years, and given that his works are so influential in our collective consciousness, I think the 'idea' is free for all, and the interpretations are what matters. Same idea germ, but wholly different renderings.

Well done! Maximum clever.
Papaya79 wrote:I agree, that Brawny guy is a little creepy!
That Brawny guy looks like he can really get the job done though, so I have no problems with him.
Nice design sir, I can see it on a box as well as a t-shirt!
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
If this prints, I'm going to get one just to wear on cleaning days, for extra inspiration.
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
That man has some pretty Gigantic shoulders. I bet those are real too, they're not even padded.
Nice design!
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
Epic entry, you win 1000 intenets. I look forward to hanging it (who hangs t-shirts?) next to my "The Binge."

You do apparently
Hope you get the chance to hang it!

Here's a couple I've worked on recently. The beach cleanup one is the one that delayed this shirt from being up sooner.
I do lots of simulated process printing type designs and seps on both light and dark tees. These are all 6-7 colors. Hope you like them ![]()
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
Excellent design. Great to see your "non woot" art too, awesome stuff.

Thanks Lucky. Yeah I'm trying to redo my portfolio cause it's been neglected for 4 years and I've done a lot in that time frame, especially logo work and lots of it. Hopefully I'll find the motivation and time soon to get it presentable. I'm really jealous of some of the great sites that a lot of artists here have for their personal work and if any of yous with great sites wanna point me in the right direction for a good way to do image galleries please feel free to PM me ![]()

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I hope you do get a site up soon, so we can all see what you do at your 'day job'. ![]()

Nice but a bit close to Lady MacBeth Hand Soap from Mental Floss:

I'd say again similar especially since were pulling from the same source material but execution is way different. I'm also using the quote not Lady Macbeths name and likeness. I was going for more a parody of Mr Clean or the Brawny guy as well with the buff bard. I think that Jadens design actually more closely resembles that one since they both use the same character. Also hand soap and stain removers are usually different products, unless you like washing your hands with harsh abrassive chemicals that have skin contact warnings on them ![]()

I have to disagree. First of all, that quote from McBeth is world famous and it belongs to William Shakespeare. And who hasn't connected it to detergent of some kind? Hell, I've said it aloud to myself when I try to clean a stain from my shirt. So to claim some kind of ownership of this quote or idea is a bit weak. I can definitely see Tjost's attempt to tie the quote, which I take to be the name of the product, and the image of Mr. Clean, upon first viewing. On top of that, he connected it to the original source with the words "blood - consciences". I thought this design was brilliant and am sad that it did not print.
Re: Damn'd Spot Remover
I just want to say that I think this was one of the greatest shirts that has ever graced shirt.woot, and I am so angry it did not make it to production! I would have purchased one in a heartbeat. Amazing design!!

I, too, am disappointed that this didn't make the woot -- if there becomes any way to purchase this, I hope you'll let me know, as I love it and would want at least two, one for me and one for my husband.

Thanks everyone for the support and continued comments on this one. I may have a chance with it on Woot still as a HM or editors choice, but if not I'll resub it elsewhere and send PMs to all who commented
Thanks again, you guys are great!
