What people forget is that herpes is the same virus that causes cold sores. It's not necessarily a naughty little guy...just tends to end up in places like that sometimes. My little pet rat had a sore on her lip for a little while, so I called her my Herpy Bear, hah. (it is gone now)

Herpes is probably THE most common infection on the planet, maybe moreso than the 'common' cold. Maiden Aunt Mildred gave it to you when you were five and she INSISTED on kissing you on the lips at the family reunion/Christmas/Uncle Bert's funeral... Frankly, meningitis is far more dangerous, depending on the type (my hubby lost two sisters to it). The flu kills more people.
It's a chee-bee representation of nasty germs. Get over it.

Haha, I forgot, this also reminds me of Moyashimon Weird show about a boy who can see bacteria. The bacteria are soooooo cute and they talk about how they work.

Yes... one night when I went out w/my gf, she said, "I need to talk to you about something... later..." She wouldn't tell me what it was about, but it didn't sound good.

I just sat there shocked.

I looked in my lap and saw the herpes plushy. I wasn't sure if she actually had it and was trying to joke about it or what.

"Why aren't you laughing?" She asked. I replied that at 2 in the morning after a long night, my first response to someone telling me they gave me herpes generally isn't laughter.

If it's any consequence though, it's a really funny idea

The only thing I dislike is the font for "I'm contagious." I feel like I've seen that one far too many times on dafont or some such other website.

Which is why it represents the theme so perfectly.

Though honestly, this is a kawaii derby. It's impossible anything kawaii could have caught an STD. this is about cold sores or chickenpox.

I thought of the same thing! I have to say my favorite is the mad cow virus, though, because it's black-and-white-cow-spots-patterned. And the sperm cell with its little blue bowtie. They even sell plush microbes in my university's bookstore now!

The bookworm ones make great gifts for... well, bookworms.

And I think some of the proceeds from buying the HIV one go to AIDS prevention/research.

Great plushies, great shirt! If it doesn't win the derby you ought to send it along to Thinkgeek next time they have a t-shirt competition, see if they'll sell it alongside the plushies!

What's the difference between true love and herpes.....herpes lasts forever. As a dentist I would wear a herpes laden shirt any day.

Seriously, I love the plush microbes and this shirt is great (I even have a few... lost some to the dog though), but as with the other kawaii shirts, I wouldn't wear it because it's *too* cute. But my sister would love this (and she's going to school to become a nurse).

I LOVE this! I've given my daughter Aids and Syphilis, my son Sperm and Bad Breathe, and my husband The Black Plague and Black Mold! They are our favorite stocking stuffers at Christmas, LOL! Definitely has my vote, especially since Herpes is on there! Great job!!!

This is awesome, but please please please for the love of all that is good either change the font of "I'm contagious" or leave it out completely. The pseudo-Asian text detracts from the non-stereotypical cuteness, and the shirt would have a greater understated quality without it.

Voted; however I'm undecided on a purchase due to the aforementioned "I'm Contagious" font/text, and also because I hate black shirts.

I would buy this for my 3 year old son but I just can't bring myself to have him wearing a shirt that says herpes on it.

But then again when he says "brain freeze" it sounds like "herpes" so when we eat ice cream he always yells "I've got herpes!"
