Re: Frontier Physics

Practical physics for lawmen (and women). Not preferable, but handy when you don't have a clear shot. ^__^

Here's a detail:

Thanks for looking! This shirt is six colors on brown. You can see a BIG VERSION here. Please vote if you like this design.

Thanks guys! I nearly gave up on this a couple of times... but it got there in the end. Like the eponymous bullet, I guess. :p

Haaaa this rocks!!! (wow I suddenly mistyped and got a 'degrees' sign, neat!) Err..back to the awesome! I love your cartooning, Spirit. Also, this joke is perfect. I had a similar idea that I was going to try, but dude...can't compete. +1!!

Also, kickazz for cowboiz.

At least Cowboy #2 probably didn't die. Thanks to the Mythbusters, I seem to recall learning that after a few ricochets, a bullet loses enough energy & speed so that it's no longer lethal?

This is great! Top notch job! I really like how you framed the sherif and the outlaw - they feel like playing cards.

Re: Frontier Physics

@llklocke, I nearly called this Trigger-nometry. ^_^ It is a question of bullet physics at its heart though so I went with a more straightforward name.

@bassanimation, aw thanks! Your ricochet design would have made it quite clear who can't compete though, I'm far less compete-y than you in the art department. ::tips hat::

Hope there'll be something else coming soon?

@endangeredomega, mjc613, ah Myth Busters! So maybe he's doing it on purpose. Stun rather than use deadly force. What a guy. ^_^

@walmazan, studio1172, Naolito, JRWorkshop, thanks very much!

@wootfast, I was surprised to see him turn up too. Turns out that if you draw a big enough chin on a character with any amount of swagger.. boom, Bruce Campbell. :p

@megsck, thanks! That's very kind. I haven't played the Bang! card game, but Wikipedia makes it sound cool. :^)

@Lagbert, yeah I did frame them in a similar way to cards. It was really just to make the start and finish stand out, although I did consider adding card symbols at one point before I remember the no text rule. Thanks a lot for the compliment!

Oh yeah, I hope if it prints it goes under the name Trigger-nometry. Bad puns!

Re: Frontier Physics

Great character work again! the only thing is that it looks a little large on the shirt and with the white frames you did around the two cowboys it looks a little odd. Maybe just shrinking it a bit? Awesome details

Thanks everyone for the compliments and the critique. Both are always welcome. I can see I valued fun over wearability on this one, but the concept is sound. Maybe I can tune it up sometime.

I figure it's always better to draw something you feel than try to guess what people want. Even if it bombs you learn a little more about your own style and strengths. Every trail has puddles, son.

I would wear this over a glowing thing in a jar.

Just saying. Awesome job.

@LOLcommunism, thanks! I dig bassanimation & tjost's star in a jar shirt myself though. It's looking mighty popular.

Agreed! I don't feel like I'm skilled enough at this point to consider my time wasted if I work hard on a design that doesn't happen to win. Every derby I learn something new and also it just gives me an excuse to draw which I don't really get to do otherwise. Double win!

Also I just want to comment that that is one hard skull on ricochet #1. ;)

+1

Lately I've been just doing whatever I feel is fun, and sometimes that's like a drink of fresh water to your art tongue. Hmm. That sounds kind of gross doesn't it? LOL, you know what I mean though.

I really, REALLY like this illustration, Spirit. It's exactly the kind of stuff I love to see. While some people don't favor more illustrative shirt designs, I sure do! Character artists unite! -highfive!-

Re: Frontier Physics

@jomichar and bassanimation, hey thanks for the reassurance. Sometimes you know a design isn't going to storm the derby but you just have to draw the darn thing anyway.

And yes they breed their cattle thick-skulled in this town. ;)
