At least Cowboy #2 probably didn't die. Thanks to the Mythbusters, I seem to recall learning that after a few ricochets, a bullet loses enough energy & speed so that it's no longer lethal?

@llklocke, I nearly called this Trigger-nometry. ^_^ It is a question of bullet physics at its heart though so I went with a more straightforward name.


@bassanimation, aw thanks! Your ricochet design would have made it quite clear who can't compete though, I'm far less compete-y than you in the art department. ::tips hat::

@Lagbert, yeah I did frame them in a similar way to cards. It was really just to make the start and finish stand out, although I did consider adding card symbols at one point before I remember the no text rule. Thanks a lot for the compliment!

Great character work again! the only thing is that it looks a little large on the shirt and with the white frames you did around the two cowboys it looks a little odd. Maybe just shrinking it a bit? Awesome details

Agreed! I don't feel like I'm skilled enough at this point to consider my time wasted if I work hard on a design that doesn't happen to win. Every derby I learn something new and also it just gives me an excuse to draw which I don't really get to do otherwise. Double win!

Also I just want to comment that that is one hard skull on ricochet #1. ;)

Lately I've been just doing whatever I feel is fun, and sometimes that's like a drink of fresh water to your art tongue. Hmm. That sounds kind of gross doesn't it? LOL, you know what I mean though.

I really, REALLY like this illustration, Spirit. It's exactly the kind of stuff I love to see. While some people don't favor more illustrative shirt designs, I sure do! Character artists unite! -highfive!-

@jomichar and bassanimation, hey thanks for the reassurance. Sometimes you know a design isn't going to storm the derby but you just have to draw the darn thing anyway.

And yes they breed their cattle thick-skulled in this town. ;)
