I understand what you mean, but there was a discussion in the pre-entry derby thread. Basically, when a derby is incidental text - you're right, things that normally would have text are allowed. So buildings, signs, etc. That being said, when said text is central to a design, such as yours is here (or the zombie hotel design) it generally gets rejected for the text not being incidental.

Incidental text should be text that is incidental to the design of the shirt. For example, if your shirt was a map with all sorts of roads and lakes and rivers, with a route mapped out that went all over the place, and you had an arrow with a capital N in one section of it, or perhaps the label "Sprawlvania" instead of a state name, that would be incidental. Here, the text is the point and punch-line of the shirt.
