Re: Never Too Old

This one was a lot of fun! Was imagining a scene that could have been on a Norman Rockwell Saturday Evening Post cover... I however can't draw as well as he but the thought is there. Let me know what you think. Open to all comments and critiques.
And yes, the old guy has pants on! Yippee!

I absolutely love this--it's hilarious, well-done and a great use of the space/colors.

Yeah, gramps got pants. I don't think the change hurts the design at all. This is aces!

The little kid palming his face is absolutely great.
A perfect addition that wasn't in your pre-derby sketch. I'm liking it.

Thanks.
Actually I redrew all the kids seperately and put them all together in to the one image.
Helped give them individuality.
Having the kid face-palming actually was my way of alluding this old guy may be his grandpa... I'm just sayin'.
I really put too much thought into this.

This is a sweet image midgerock. I love the kid with the hand over the face and of course, I love the main character.

This is a favorite of mine, excellent work.

Question: what could have made this better?

The white box in the background is something that I find unappealing. It seems you did it to make the rain, but I think you should of just given the rain its own color. Plus, a lot of people here dislike the block of ink, regardless of the cool image that exists in it.

I think some shadows and highlights always make a image stand out more too. It seems you have the palette to do it with.

And lastly, the rain breaking your line work is something that distracts me. I would probably have a few drops go over the line work, but I would have most of the rain drops behind the image to break up the "flatness" of the rain and give the image some depth.

And I mentioned this before, this piece is just too darn funny. I love it! Keep it up!

Huh I liked the rain cutting through the picture, but I guess some feel that it "distresses" the image. The white box is a bit glaring, but a bunch of houses behind would have been too busy. Ah catch-22, how we love you.

I especially like the designs that are able to fully incorporate the shirt color itself into the background more, thus making the shirt and image a more cohesive whole.

I'm glad you think its funny. I hope to keep it up and appreciate the feedback. It helps to get better at this not knowing everyone's taste to design and all. I understand the depth thing and need to tweak that on this for any future submission of this design. Thanks again.

Thanks I guess need to find a way through all of that to balance out both. Maybe add more to the back but finding another way of showing the rain instead of the cutting big white block. Appreciate the feedback.

That's what I was kind of trying with having the rain the shirt color. but I guess didn't work to well here.
Thank you for the feedback.
