Some close ups:

All of the equations are real equations. This is 6 colors on red.

That fact alone makes this shirt 10x more otterific than anything I currently own. Put me down for two.

Re: Atoms of Science

there always seems to be an atom shirt in every science derby, but i must say that this is by far my favorite of them. looks great on red and i love the choice of the equations as the electron lines. =)

Might as well just resubmit http://shirt.woot.com/friends.aspx?k=14641 .

Just because it's a model of an atom does not make it a copy on another model of an atom. I chose to use carbon because there is an entire field that centers on the study of molecules containing carbon (organic chemistry.) The main theme of this design is the equations and the way they symbolize the progress of science, from the straight math in the center to the more complex formulas derived from it in the outer shells.

Argh! Electrons are not little particles whizzing around on lines... Besides that, great shirt

Haha I know, I'm actually a chem major, but the lines are representative of the energy levels the electrons can exist at, it might be hard to see, but there is a small s orbital w/ 2 electrons, then a larger px orbital with two as well and then a py and pz orbital with 1 electron each, as in the ground state configuration of carbon. This modeling of an atom is used because while it might not be as technically accurate it is easier to describe bonding from this point of view.

I love this, the color I would not wear though. I'd have to break though walls every time I wore it.

Spectacular! I'm really glad that I clicked on the thumb to view the whole shirt in detail. I usually ignore the plethora of Rutherford's model shirts during these derbies, but this one actually has some unique elements (no pun intended) that really make it stand out from the crowd. Concept would definitely not work with the Bohr model, superb job.

P.s. bonus points for your reply about the specifics of the Carbon-12 orbitals

I am inspired to vote for this shirt by your dedication to chemistry. I may not be a chem major as well, but I am the crazy cousin from engineering.

Also, this shirt is very good. I hope it prints, and that all the equations turn out all right (if anything, that is my only reservation with this shirt).
