Re: Delusions of Grandeur

Since my other entry was going to be rejected for somehow breaking the "no pop culture" rule, here it is again. Same exact design. New title.

Please re-vote everyone!
Thanks!

I guess when they say no pop culture it goes beyond just the art.... *shrug*

Kind of poopy, but better sooner than later I guess. Revoted!

Wouldn't the cat also look skinnier in a concave mirror?

I like the idea, style, colors, but the reflections don't make sense...

Not to be a pooper, but the mirrors are reversed. Concave will appear smaller and covex will appear larger.

Or I can smoke some more magic mushrooms and just enjoy the idea. But if I wore it, I would have smoke everyone out or they would think my Tshirt was wonky.

Who cares if the physics aren't exactly correct; everyone knows that cats defy all attempts to rationalize their behavior.

I'm not sure I understand why people are questioning this. I understand that a mirror that is concave only on the y-axis would make the cat tall only and not tall AND wide like the tiger. And a mirror that is convex only on the y-axis would make the dog short only and not short AND skinny. I admit to using creative license there and on the fact that no mirror can make a house cat reflection look like a tiger. However, I did not get concave and convex mixed up. I just didn't create spherically convex and concave mirrors since that's not usually the way funhouse mirrors are shaped.

"CONCAVE MIRRORS are used in everything from shaving mirrors to lighting the Olympic torch...From far away, objects will seem upside down, but as you get closer and pass the focal point, the image flips and magnifies."

Shaving mirror = concave mirror
Shaving mirrors magnify at close range.

"A CONVEX MIRROR, which bulges outward, reflects at a wider angle near its edges than at its center, creating a slightly distorted image that's smaller than actual size. Convex mirrors have many uses. The smaller size of the images means that you can see more with these surfaces, hence their use in safety mirrors."

Safety mirror = convex mirror
Safety mirror allows you to see a wider angle, thus making everything within the reflection smaller.

Cute! I also really like the colors.

And I agree, the physics (with creative license) are correct. For example, here's a concave mirror:

So great! I love the feline side especially (of course!), and the texture of the mirror frames - really nice.

This shirt should be made into an inspirational poster with the caption "What matters most is how you see yourself". BOOM! INSPIRE'D! Haha, but in all seriousness, this is a pretty awesome design. Good work!

This is adorable.

I like that the mirrors are correct... but I'm surprised that anyone cares. I feel like that cat would see himself the same way in any mirror... =P
