Re: Inspired by 1984 Duck Hunt

I'm still confused on the pop culture rule. This seems safe to me -- it refers to a game that is over 100 years old and not owned by Milton Bradley or any other company.

You must read Moby Duck.

While it is without a doubt one of the better ones I've seen, I would be pretty shocked if this made it past the pop culture filter this week.

No, but I've read some Duckstoevsky.

I get that alot...

I totally agree that this could fit in a definition of "pop culture". It doesn't appear that is Woot's current definition though.

Hopefully this design will survive the "pop culture" evaluation; in its defense, if this was a copy of the plastic game I played in my youth, the "miss" pegs would be white...

I do love the execution, by the way, but I'm a sucker for isometric projection :>

Nice concept.

I always use white pegs for misses to simulate water splashes.

Ack. That was just a miss on my part -- not an effort to be less "pop culture". Before I resub somewhere else, I'll make those white.

There really is a book called Moby Duck. It's about a shipment of bath toy ducks (and beavers, frogs, and turtles) that was swept overboard in 1992. A journalist went on an epic trek to learn about the shipment, ocean currents, and such. Very cool read.

I don't really understand this shirt. Misses are not tracked on the same part of the board as your ships in battleship, and you would have no reason to keep track of your opponent's misses.
