Re: Pinkini
Love it! So awesome, it makes me want to go surfing. In fact I'm taking it as a sign that I should. I'm gone.
Rejected because: Not seeing a strong enough connection to the theme here, needs more than a slight red tint

Re: Pinkini
Could you explain the connection to the theme? I feel like I'm missing something here...

isn't the theme this week red (and summery), and isn't this red and summery?

The theme is red and the actual content should tie into red somehow. Just giving any design not even loosely tied to red a red tint won't cut it.
EDIT: If you can convince me this was a red-headed girl wearing a red bikini I might be persuaded. The "red" right now looks like an afterthought.
Well, she is a red head. Also I dig the tatts but the stars seem like a bit much.

And yes, if you have a red or cranberry shirt you can use any colors you want, but there should be some kind of connection to "red" beyond just the shirt color. See previous color derbies for some idea about how this works.
tgentry wrote:The pink isn't the issue so much as there's no connection to red here other than you put a pink tint on a non-red related design. Look at entries in the blue derby as suggested, including rejected ones.
So if i make her wear a "Redkini" would that work?
The idea was to make her a redhead but the color matching just worked out to wear it looked pinkish for style purposes.

Given that everything else in the scene is the same tint she could just as easily be blond or brunette. Her bikini looks near black, not pink, and the same color as her tattoos. It's a great design, but I don't see any connection that seems like you're referencing red here, just applying a pink tint over a design. I think the bar is pretty low in terms of getting a reference in there. It doesn't have to be a tomato or strawberry, but there should be something there. Good luck. It's an awesome illustration!
