This one actually made me laugh that kind of laugh that you try to stifle because you're at work, and there are coworkers around, but it escapes anyway so you try to play it off like it might have been a sneeze, but everyone knows it's not a sneeze, so they all stare at you and you can feel their piercing, curious eyes on you, and you wish that you could sneeze for real just so you could think something like "Ha! In your faces" and then they would feel bad for not saying "Bless you" or "Gesundheit" or something like that...

... you know... *that* kind of laugh...

HAHAHAHAHA!

I would love to see this one along with Robbie's design back-to-back next weekend. That's where the 10th rainbow is, BTW.

The cool thing is if you look at the image upside down, then the rainbow is smiling and it looks like he's holding the book above his head cheering. Perhaps he's the 1 out of 10 rainbows that can read.

Re: Illiterate rainbow

i've clicked "I'D WANT ONE" on many derby entries that i thought were artistically stellar or "a great idea". But this is the first shirt that i actually will buy WHEN/if it runs.

It is the perfect balance of a great idea, and a design-style that is complimentary to the concept...but you don't have to take my word for it...

Agreed. I just can't wear baby blue.

Many folks dislike white, so I'm glad it's on a colored shirt. Besides, the pages won't show up if it was on a white shirt.

Still, if that's what you want, just add bleach.

I love it, too funny!!! I wish it was on the Blue at the bottom of the rainbow instead of the baby blue. I love Blue and I love this! It's so simple and funny, You can definitely put me down for one.

do you do this by hand or on the computer?

aroomadoomie wrote:do you do this by hand or on the computer?

I do most all my work directly on the computer nowadays, it helps speed the process. I flip flop between Illustrator and Photoshop but I do use a Wacom Intuos pad in both programs especially since Illustrator CS4 and beyond employ some brush functions similar to Photoshop and make freehand drawing much easier directly into that program. I used to do things on paper, scan them in then redraw them in vector or raster, but have since moved away from that (though I still like sketching in pencil when I get the chance). This piece was done in Illustrator, mainly with the mouse.

Thanks for all the support on this one guys, I had another more complex piece planned but couldn't finish it in time. Also for those with reservations about the color, I understand, there's colors I gravitate towards or away from but I also try to give all colors a fair shake and hopefully you will too. At least it's not heather or beige For the colors used on this piece sky blue seemed the most appropiate and looked the best (to my eye) so there you go :S Thanks again and on to the next derby!

I have a pretty good guess that it was due to a member of the reptile community.

I really loved this shirt! I'm so disappointed that it didn't make it in the top three, it would have been an instant purchase for me
