hmm. I wonder why? it's only been submitted for 3 hrs, and that was at 5:44 A.M. Eastern time.

I like the texture and style. Though I wouldn't wear it (not my cuppa), I think you should resubmit with a smaller, perspective-appropriate hat. I understand distorting the perspective so you can see her face, but it's a little too noticeable at this scale. I can't be the only one bothered by this...can I?

It's not a hat, it's a sunshade !
Now wonder it looks so big compared to the head.

Okay, thanks, that makes more sense. The alignment with the head made it look like a large hat with an unrealistic tilt/hover effect going on. It wasn't the size that bothered me, it was the perspective (made more noticeable by the size).

I clearly need to bone up on my Japanese fashion accessories...

Plus it's on a white shirt. They don't seem to be too popular. I wouldn't want one, not a fan of white shirts.

I do like this, however. But I think it'd look nicer on cream, perhaps.

That's not a hat, guys. That's an umbrella. ;) Notice it's got the ribbing/ribs you see on rice paper umbrellas. http://bit.ly/qZkOrg

Excuse my lack of eloquence, if You would...
I Love the design, and the way it's done.
The way it blends and retains detail; the rusty orange and subtle neutrals...
All of this is great, but it's as if it's just too much for a tee of my taste.

This is a great entry, and I'd certainly wear it, but it isn't quite what I'd go for, opposed to many other entries.

I love the design, and the white shirt works well for it, too. I only wish the colour ink you used weren't brown.

Pink...purple...green...any of those would work better thematically and practically and iMO, aesthetically too. Maybe consider a resub? I vote for purple since it's so sadly underused in woot shirts.

On the other hand, I HATE cream shirts. There are so many great designs printed on them, but they make me look cream.

Re: The Orchid Onryō

I haven't bought a woot in awhile, because too many cute little animal shirts keep winning. Its always nice to see designs that are more along the line of art.

I love how every time I look at the shirt, I seem to think of a new story for the girl on it. GMV x 1,000,000

This is lovely. Beautiful drawing style and the colors are perfect for an older sepia-toned photograph feeling. Love it!

I think the white is pretty- but I can wear cream without any see through problems, and not white :-(

Fair enough, but give me the chance to convince you that brown is totally boss and deserves mad cred. First with a fancy pants explanation and then with a cunningly stupid one.

Firstly; the brown represents decay ala season change, the cycle of life/death and the in between stage of good/evil, hot/cold and love/hate. It inspires conflict of mood in that there's nothing necessarily offensive or unsound about the color while simultaneously being unable to illicit any kind of strong emotional state in its viewer; letting the mood already present flood the painting as it is perceived by the individual rather than the other way around. Does the viewer see a content spirit basking in the repose of justice? Or do they see a soul whos desire for vengeance had stoked the fires of hate so hot as to melt away her very humanity?

Or, the second reason, which is that i picked "Orange" because it started with "O" and figured "eh, brown is basically in the same zip code, amiright?"

We may never really truly know.

Either way your feedback is appreciated! =)

This shirt rocks. Can I print it on a rice scroll and hang it on a door? Maybe right next to the gangster panda.

  • Congratulations on winning a Best Loser Award!
  • This is not SPAM.
  • Winning a BLA does NOT mean this shirt won't print -- I'm hoping it does.
  • Your one and only gift is this crappy little badge in your shirt thread. Enjoy.
  • But you don't really care for music, do ya?

If this were on a darker color I would vote for it in a second...but I've just never been able to pull off the lighter stuff. *sighs* I still think it deserves to win...I just regret not being able to buy it when it does.

Either way, this is a beautiful and evocative design. Nicely done! ^_^
