This is a work of precision and haunting beauty, like a clockwork bird. Awesome work cmdixon.

I really like this, but unless the Olive blanks have changed so I last bought one, the detail of the dark colour is not going to show up at all. The cage might just barely get a pass, but the wallpaper would definitely be lost.

Thanks everyone! This was a race against the clock. Subbed it and immediately went to see Harry Potter. So good!

I understand your concerns about the olive. I chose "PMS Black 3C" so I'm hoping it will be a bit closer to black than what's shown. I unfortunately don't have a Pantone swatch book, so I could be wrong about that. Anyone with a Pantone book want to weigh in?

The olive blanks are much closer to what's in the comp, and NOT what's on the tee mockup - definitely not that dull. This should print fine. And it should print. Lovely!

Closer to the comp, yes, but dark details still disappear into the shirt. I know from experience, as I had a print on olive where even a large block of a dark colour was difficult to tell apart from the shirt. I picked a really dark green though, so hopefully black would do better - but I wouldn't be optimistic about it.

I've seen this concern about olive quite a lot, but a dark green ink color (5605C) showed up just fine on one of my prints on olive a year ago. Maybe the blanks have changed since your print? Or maybe it was just too close a shade of green.

Edit: And I forgot about this one... much more recently, black on olive - very clear.

Thanks Jasneko! Those are helpful.

Honestly i'm not too worried about this one. I'd be shocked if it even managed to fog at this point, let alone print, so I don't think it's worth a debate.

I am very optimistic that this shirt will fog, print and look fantastic! I love your detail and the fact that the story doesn't have to be explained. I've never ordered an olive shirt, but will do so when this prints!

  • Congratulations on winning a Best Loser Award!
  • This is not SPAM.
  • Winning a BLA does NOT mean this shirt won't print -- I'm hoping it does.
  • Your one and only gift is this crappy little badge in your shirt thread. Enjoy.
  • It was you who picked the pieces up when I was a broken soul and then glued me back together; returned to me what others stole.

Wow, the votes increase, but the fog just isn't budging this week. I do so hope the nightingale receives more votes tonight!

I know! This is one of those frustrating weeks where a) I didn't have a good idea in time to do anything and b) I'm actually not that into most of the entries. Oh well, I desperately need to avoid buying shirts for now since we're moving and can't afford anything else at the moment. *sigh*

edit: it really is closer than normal, I think. It's not unusual to have ~150 votes different between 10th and 15th, even at this point, but it's only ~50 right now.

One of the few shirts this derby that got my vote. Amazing design, and the symbolism behind it is beautiful. Much better than a few shirts in the fog.

I am especially bummed that this shirt won't print because even when Chris put his designs elsewhere, they don't print 3XL.

Re: The Nightingale's Song

I'm really glad you chose this story, it's one of my favorites. You did a fantastic job. If it doesn't print (hope ti does!!!) then maybe it can make it to one of the honorable mention derbies and get a second chance.
