AMAZING work!!

I want to like this, and I understand why it was drawn this way, but I can't get over how very wrong the sky is.

As an astronomy teacher, I want to point out that the bright side of the moon always faces the sun.

I'm jealous. That rendering of the sun is perfect. GMV!

@lavers & tinycaprice, thanks for your comments. I submitted an alternate version with the moon flipped to see what more people thought, but the feeling seemed to be that it wasn't a worthwhile change.

I prefer the look of this version, keeping in mind that the artistic license involved. :^)

LOL - this is something I would have never noticed... and you know how usually you can't "unsee" something once it's pointed out? Well, I have both versions up and I'll admit that the corrected version registers as "more accurate" in that part of my brain that cares about those things but if I hadn't read the comments I wouldn't be able to explain why, and I like the original just fine! BUT - I really want this to print so if it will cost you any votes I think you should change it (still early). GMV either way

I tend to be really nitpicky about minor details but the moon doesn't really bother me, personally. Maybe it's because I'm not an astronomer If they were both up in the sky together it might register as weird to me but since the giraffe's neck kind of splits the image in two, my mind doesn't read the sun and moon as actually being related to eachother. just my take on it.

Thanks so much, PixelPants and xazothia! I intended the background to not be taken too literally, it's a bit fanciful and suggests a yin-yang balance and the passing of time from day to night. Glad you can kinda see where I'm coming from there. :^)

Even though I now know the moon is wrong... I think I like it better wrong. It just looks better with the music notes coming out of the crescent like that.

I'm digging the design, even with the moon and sun. the thing that is throwing me off though is the front legs. They seem to connect awkwardly to the torso of the giraffe

Giraffes are very oddly shaped. The more you look at them, the weirder they are.

I love the colors you chose for the sun itself. Stunning.

This is great. Not sure how people can say they don't like it because the moon isn't realistic enough, I mean you are allowed some creative license. Not to mention if realism is your thing, visible music notes should probably bother you more than the minor moon detail.
