Can you make anything original? This idefinitely a world you didn't create and one that has been well traveled already at woot and elsewhere. The simple idea of profitting off of free software is reprehensible not to mention already against the rules.

I thought real world was allowed? Also I figured you would link unexpected error.

Don't feel like dredging up links since the shirt is new enough that people will have seen it. Also reference his wizard of Oz rejection as to why the "real" world is no protection when it isn't actually the real world.

I think that argument doesn't carry over considering firefox doesn't have a fictional world, and in fact is a representation of the real globe.

At the risk of receiving mass criticism, I would just like to say that I'm not sure why you get so many haters on your work, but I love your shirts Ramyb! You are quite possibly my favorite artist and I think my paypal account is going to get quite the workout as I build up my collection.
Keep up the great work!

At risk of echoing the comment before mine, I just want to say I love your designs Ramyb. While this design won't get a +1 from me, you have two others this week that will. You offer a great variety of designs in almost every derby and I find myself surprised when I look at some designs and see they're from you. Keep up the great work. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to get the "GPS Fail" this upcoming weekend.

While I'm tired of Ramy's endless supply of bunny, penguin, and kitten designs... I like this shirt. I'd be happy to have another Firefox shirt.

Plus, the fox looks cute-sy without being overwhelmingly cute. +1

I haven't used Firefox regularly since v3.22 and that was only a few months ago. What is it up now to, v7? It's almost like it's trying hard to get better but ends up feeling like the same thing over and over...

Re: Global Warming

I am wondering how people who bash on these shirts are actually artists that submit to this site.

If you don't like the shirt... then don't vote for it. All these comments that seem really only to try and hurt and not actually give constructive criticism are like trying to tell Bill Gates that Windows sucks while he nods his head and counts his money.

He probably doesn't care since he is in the top three usually about twice a month. You are just wasting your breath.

I'm so confused. Firefox? Why...what does it have to do with maps? The globe part of the icon? Is that the only connection?

Re: Global Warming

A Globe is not a map. Not that it even looks like a globe.

This is ridiculously off-topic.

I'm a little surprised, even at this artist. The second I saw this I just "world nomination" again, which I would think a design someone would want to stay away from. However whatever people want, losing interest and faith in some woot.shirt's(still love woot.com) choices but if this is what people want. However I won't be voting for it.

Re: Global Warming

Hm. Ramy did a fox. Well I'll be.

I've gotta say, it's not -terrible-. I like the colors. The tail's a little on the long side. But really, I just hate Firefox. I mean, the shirt's somewhat on theme, but if it prints, it'll be like, the one fox shirt from Woot that I won't buy. I bought the Unexpected Error shirt because it's more anti-Firefox than for it. And I think I've snagged all the other fox shirts.

Good luck, anyway, I suppose. It is at least tempting.

Re: Global Warming

I'll leave the discussion of whether the design is original and on-topic to others but I will comment on the execution since I have complained in the past about an apparent lack of effort on Ramy's part. The fox's limbs are symmetric and proportionate and you used a full 6 colors; the coloring and shading is nice. This is a polished well-executed design, it looks good - Thank you Ramy!

I'm having trouble understanding what this is a map of. Nothing's labelled, there are no identifying marks, there is no scale. I'm not sure it is a map at all.

Re: Global Warming

Ask yourself..

When you wear this shirt, are people going to get the joke? Without the title, you are just wearing a design that looks like the quite recognizable browser icon.

It's fine if that's enough for you, but the joke will probably not once be recognized for what its worth.

Also, I don't consider this thing a map. A map is supposed to be representation of an area that helps you from being lost. I guess that's debatable though. I guess I never thought globes qualified for maps, at least not in the traditional definition.

I considered the idea of including a scale on the design for the sake of clarity, but couldn't find a way to place it that I liked. Ultimately, I decided that going with a "red is hot, blue is cold" scale was hopefully going to be clear enough. What I've shown is a pretty standard representation of hot patches on a map, hopefully that comes across clearly.

Also, thanks to everyone for the kind words on this design. I spent a little extra time polishing it, and hopefully it shows

These two designs are entirely different in concept- Diana's shirt is an evil firefox destroying the world- the only similarity is the reference to firefox itself, and I'm not sure why that alone would be a reason for rejection.

LOL, I have to say that I don't have a problem with this shirt as the artist of the first shirt. It seems like a different take and execution than my "Unexpected Error" shirt. Similar jokes in some ways, but that happens all the time.

Not sure how woot will take it, they can be really odd with the "similar shirt exists" rejection.

Also, damn that fox is cute. =D

Why? -Because people like you are little cowards that are too afraid to speak their mind in real life. If you're not going to say it to someone's face, don't say it at all. Rather than piss the entire planet off, just don't vote for someone's art.

No worries then. I'd definitely say it to his, or anyone else's for that matter, face I just don't go to anime conventions. You can sleep easy now. Anyone with any concerns is more than welcome to pm me and maybe we can work something out that is of course unless you're relying on the anonymity of the internet. I'd never say anything I wouldn't say to the artists' face.

There was a whole string of rejections for anything Schrodinger's Cat awhile back as well. And a lot of them were really different from my shirt. It's weird because sometimes woot let's similar shirts go through just fine but sometimes not.

I think you did a real good job on drawing the fox for this. I also liked the one you put up in the Mexico derby. You should try and do another fox design at some point. =D

I actually did not see that one before, thank you for pointing it out.

I actually like the design on that fox a bit more than the one here, though I understand that this one was stretched a little for the Firefox reference.

I do feel like Ramy is putting a bit more effort in with some of his recent designs. That Mexico shirt had a lot of polish and reminded me some of the standard dog show posing, which works for it. The tail is also nicely done there. And both shirts have a very nice red-orange set of colors for the fox.

Kudos for being so cool about that; not many artists would be so agreeable.

However, I think one of the reasons (not necessarily the main one) for the 'similar shirt exists' rule is to promote diverse designs. Whether intentional or not, ramy's design was a fraternal twin of yours. The 'joke' may not have been the same, but I mean come on, it was a firefox covering the Earth.

I would say different concepts. Sadly this got rejected over crap and Ramby hate around here.

This design clearly was a play on the the firefox logo. I would of bought it but sadly got rejected. This week is not looking good for me to get one of the derby shirts.
