Phi stands for the golden ratio which of course is found in the golden spiral, golden rectangle, golden triangle, etc., etc. Also often found in plants as the angular spacing between leaves (in addition to many other examples).

3 colors on Navy. Posting a link to a bigger (less blurry) version soon... And of course, the angle of the halftone lines is the golden angle (137.5).

This is my favorite of the phi designs, and of the derby in general, by a long shot. It's remarkably elegant.
