Re: Waiting for the suB
It turns out that catching the Sub at the Sub Stop isn't much different than our Bus Stops and Subways.

Re: Waiting for the suB
Great design!
Re: Waiting for the suB
Wow, this is the most clever design I've seen in a long time. Did you come up with this idea during the derby theme, or did you have the idea before it?

Thank you! All of my submissions to the Woot derby are thought up specifically for the theme. I don't ever remember subbing something that was already pre-made or partially complete.
I had no real good ideas Thursday. Friday I was messing with some ideas of a Sub Stop and one of my first ideas with someone with cement feet. I combined the two and then it all started coming together nicely Friday night with the other characters and then Saturday I did the real thing. One of my few 4 color entries. I usually always use all 6.

There's so many ideas combined and fitting into one concept that I find it really impressive that you hadn't been thinking on it for longer than that. Really great work.

Sometimes things come together by luck or new ideas come to you as you work. I definitely didn't just picture this whole scene in my head at once. It came about over several hours of messing around with different things. I just keep messing with the ideas until it falls into place and I say "Yeah that's it!". Sometimes it's quick, sometimes it takes a long time. This was a bit in the middle I guess. Either way, this is why I didn't submit it until Saturday evening.
Re: Waiting for the suB
Homeless shark warms my heart.
This better print, I don't have a baby blue shirt yet.
I never thought of it, but crabs look biologically set up for texting. I will never look at someone texting the same again. +1
Love the sense of humor.
love.
thanks.
Re: Waiting for the suB
I LOVE this! I really hope it gets movin' on up! There are so many great details here, I can't even decide which I like best. The texting crab...the gadget geek octopus...the hobo shark...the dead body. It's hilarious! I love shirts like this because every time you look at it you notice things you didn't before, and it just gets funnier each time! Kudos! Definitely GMV! ![]()
Re: Waiting for the suB
I really like this style. GMV.
calebmitchell wrote:...the dead body.
The best part here is that he's just arrived, so not quite dead yet, but in about 60 or so seconds....
C'mon, fog you inglorious basterd! [sic]
Re: Waiting for the suB
I love the cement man, he just looks so nonchalant while he drowns and a homeless shark asks him for change. oh gosh. :3
Re: Waiting for the suB
Great characters! My favorite is the "texting" crab.
I really hope you get to the top because I want this shirt. The shadings are fantastic and the level of detail is incredible. Good luck.
Good God that's funny - my favourite colour, too :-) I want one !
I would have added something to the shark; make the caudal and dorsal fins stumps and cover with bandages. This would explain the wheelchair. Perhaps add some subtle Asian features to Sharkey, as well.
Of course, I would not have cooked up this ingenious design...so nevermind.
I hope this gets printed.
Re: Waiting for the suB

Except he's faking it.

Re: Waiting for the suB
I just realized that sub is bus spelled backwards. HA!
Re: Waiting for the suB
Am I the only one who wants to wear this to a ZZ TOP concert?
I will buy one at double the normal price right now.

And normally I wouldn't wear powder blue if someone pointed a gun at my head.
Re: Waiting for the suB
Oh My Gookie! - still giggling. GMV and a definite BUY!
Re: Waiting for the suB
Stating the obvious here probably but... No one else pointed out that "sub" is an anagram of "bus"
redwingsilvertail wrote:Stating the obvious here probably but... No one else pointed out that "sub" is an anagram of "bus"
It could possibly be why the title is purposely written as "Waiting for the suB" and not "Waiting for the Sub" ;)
Re: Waiting for the suB
this is very clever-definately would want one!
Re: Waiting for the suB
So much to look at; so much to grin over.
Re: Waiting for the suB
Is it my imagination, or does the octopus have a bit of screen glow on his face, especially in his eyes? Very cool hint of detail there.
Re: Waiting for the suB
This is awesome. I will buy this if it ever comes around to printing.
Re: Waiting for the suB
i was very selfish with my votes this time. this was my favorite shirt. it got my top vote. i really hope to see it in print. thanks for the great work. this is my new screen saver.
Re: Waiting for the suB
