Re: 1992 (Asimov)

On April 6, 1992, The world lost one of its most prolific writers. This design is in tribute to Isaac Asimov, who died the year I was born. His head and arm are formed by quotes by Asimov. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated, but go easy on me, as this is my first derby entry. The full size design can be found/read here.

I am digging your design and think you did a wonderful job.

More so, I want to thank you for posting your design and getting me to read all the quotes and than dig deeper on the net for more quotes. I haven't previously read up too much on Asimov and your shirt design got me to do that. He really does have a lot of interesting things to say. So, I just wanted to say Thank You for that!

You're welcome, and I'll tell you that I had the same experience making the shirt. He really was a pretty cool guy.

Near-opposite experience for me. My family subscribed to his SF magazine for years, and I read all his editorials. It was a couple of decades later before I realized what a major shaping force he'd been on my morality--more even than my parents in some ways.

GMV, obviously.

Actually Isaac Asimov inspired my wife to go into chemistry. It seems he was a shaping force for a lot of us...

Nice shirt idea. One of my favorite authors. I love his robot stories. Have you read his autobiography, "I. Asimov"? It's a fascinating read.

I have not. I'm really starting to get back into his works. My grade school library had a decent selection of his non-fiction works, but I have not read much of his since then.

Thank you very much for this submission. Asimov was my favourite author while growing up. He is greatly missed, but his many works leave much of the man with us.
+1 from myself and several friends.

I love the shirt, but is anyone else getting a Crnl Sanders vibe from it? I love Asimov, and all, I just keep thinking KFC whenever I see it. Sorry.

I think it has to be the glasses and the hand placement, I do really love it and these kind of shirts though.

I did base the design off this picture:

Actually, I used this picture

I does have a certain southern fried aspect to it.

Excellent.

Asimov's writings span all major categories of the Dewey Decimal Classification except for Philosophy.

I got to speak to the Dr. shortly before his death. An amazing man.

I hope you re-enter this image in a later contest if it doesn't prevail here.

A genuine original Woot!-istanian.

Thanks. I am hopeful in this derby, but it probably won't happen. As this is just my first derby entry, I am ecstatic that I am well within the top 50% of entries. With that said, thanks to you, all that have voted, and all who will vote.

Fabulously executed!

As someone who studied science for a degree, Asimov is an incredibly influential figure for myself as well. Great to see him being represented in this derby amidst many of the video game references (although it seems most of those got rejected anyway...)

GMV Make sure you enter more derbies!
