I actually created the design yesterday before seeing the talk of cannibals. My first entry! : )

My mind tends to go to strange places when I come up with creative ideas. I'm working through it in therapy with Legos.

I'm toying with the idea of creating a "Jesus Juice Bar" entry...

I perfer therapy with Legolas, but to each his own. ;)

I like the design, but when I commented yesterday "What woot needs is more Canibal designs" I wasn't expecting this...

Religious references draw the wrath of Thor. Or a big banhammer, anyway.

Maybe ... since I only got a "No" as the reason, I suppose it's possible.

Tho I only used a last name... I don't think it's fair to assume everyone with the last name "Dahmer" is a cannibal from Milwaukee. I bet there are some very nice Dahmers out there, just trying to make a living.

And if it's considered "pop culture," wouldn't the Kraken and Noah be rejected too?

Or if it's offensive, the zombie with brains on the plate is OK? Because brains on a plate is much better than a loose meat sandwich... I guess in France. Hehe.

"C'est la vie" as the brains-eating French would say.

Pretty much where I'd arrived at. Though to be fair, none of the nice Dahmers ever did family dinner at Jeff's place.

I'm guessing "No" meant offensive/somewhat tasteless. I realize that other cannibal designs have survived the Rejectionator - and there's one in the Reckoning right now. If I had to guess, I think this one is more explicit than many of the others and the reference is more obvious/straightforward. (IMHO, the reference to Dahmer feels different, somehow, than the reference to the Donner party (as an example); I'm not sure why my gut reaction is different, but it might be because Dahmer was a psychopath committing crimes relatively recently, while the Donner expedition is historical, but moreover, found themselves in dire circumstances, rather than choosing to engage in, um, stomach-turning behavior.)

I can certainly see what you're saying. I do feel it's a little capricious though. I mean, I could call the "Nice to Meat You" entry that's in the top now racist because it references "Caliente Mexican" and an African spear jutting out of the side. But I appreciate edgy - and I thus I actually voted for that design myself. I'd want it.

Seems like "taste" should be reserved for voting and not arbitrary rejection, IMHO.

You do realize the "Nice to Meat You" shirt you referenced was canibalism entry #1,right?

Part of teh reason I love it so, it's subtle.

Re: Dahmer's Deli

This is common sense really, not an example of unfairness. You are referencing a cannibal/rapist/necrophiliac/serial killer from only a couple decades ago. It's not anything like a zombie shirt, random african cannibal shirt, or even a historical tragedy like the Donner party.

NO rejection is the woot equivalent of a DUH. Of course they aren't going to print a shirt with a dog turd, or tampon, or child rapist on it.
