"Nōtan (濃淡) is a Japanese design concept involving the play and placement of light and dark as they are placed next to the other in art and imagery," said Mr. Wikipedia as he wrote the word on the chalkboard.
I sat in my desk staring at the board.
The fact that the word Notan itself is almost symmetrical leapt off the chalkboard at me and begged for Notanification.
The ugly fact that I, myself, have absolutely no tan was an ironic coincidence. (Or at least an embarrassing admission that if I get caught naked on the beach one more time, I'll be added to some list that will prevent me from ever driving an ice cream truck within 500 feet of a school or playground.)
The fact that Derby #304 only allows black and white--and no tan--sealed the deal.
For my next trick, I will attempt to create a rift in the space-time continuum by spray painting a giant Möbius Strip on the Large Hadron Collider...

No tan Notan (just Black & White)
