This design was painful to make.

And it's painful to read (or should I say that its painful to read?).

What's even worse, though, is that there might be some out there who won't get it at first glance.

Or second glance...

These are more just bad spelling then bad grammar aren't they?

Spelling is part of grammar. When I teach grammar, spelling is included.

Webster would disagree...

Definition of GRAMMAR

1 a - the study of the classes of words, their inflections, and their functions and relations in the sentence
b : a study of what is to be preferred and what avoided in inflection and syntax

2 a : the characteristic system of inflections and syntax of a language
b : a system of rules that defines the grammatical structure of a language

3 a : a grammar textbook
b : speech or writing evaluated according to its conformity to grammatical rules

4
: the principles or rules of an art, science, or technique
(a grammar of the theater); also : a set of such principles or rules

I was always taught they were two separate but important aspects of language. Grammar is like the blueprints of how to put a sentence together and spelling is like the bricks or other building materials that go into it.

I think grammar and syntax are more closely related.

School is much different now. It's all inclusive. Curriculum is always evolving. I'm sure Websters would be disappointed.

Then what your teaching is language and aspects thereof not just grammar. Not as a slight against you, but with test scores the way they are in US schools, maybe they need to rethink how they are labeling and teaching curriculum.

As long as you know which colors go where on a Rubix Cube... 'cause seriously, who's going to buy one if the colors are wrong!?

Isn't "a lot" correct? It's "alot" that's not a word...

Yup, and I had "alot" on there originally but I corrected it without thinking. lol. Do you know how hard it is to write things incorrectly on purpose? The print file has the correct version. Thanks for pointing it out.

I think most people combine spelling and grammar, even if they're not the same thing.

I think you mean, "Then what you're teaching..." I love when people misuse grammar as they're trying to correct someone else's.
