Boy, you people ought really to follow the Derby better before you start making unfounded accusations. I have been drawing snails and slugs on woot since before there was a derby. As far as Edgar's style, this ain't it. Edgar draws fine lines around everything, and he uses speech clouds. Further, he doesn't use shadowed silhouettes like I do, like I have done for a looong time. In addition, the hallmark of Edward's style is the intricate detail he puts into his clearly unreal shapes- the only recognizable creature I've seen that he drew was the giant diplodocus he drew in the time travel contest.
This design is a great deal like designs I have entered in derbies since the very first derby. In general, the lines are not smoothed, and mostl there are not lines around anything in my drawings, but some do have them. I tend to use silhouettes, even in the focus of my drawings, but certainly in the other parts, like these wine bottles. I also tend to distinguish between the objects by having each a different shade of darkness rather than having lines around them. Though I didn't include examples, I have made several designs where I put veins in the eyes of a variety of creatures. None of the following designs is exactly like the slug who ha finished his beinge, and wants no more to drink, but all of them share many more characteristics than any of them share with Edgar's.
In general, my designs have been sort of middle of the pack, and lower, but I've been there contributing to every Derby. All of these are clickable and will take you to the original entry, in case you need a better view to be sure I really have made this many bad entries. :^|
derby 1

The Smartpost snail was Fenstar's non-entry, but it is my picture, which woot still uses on the "Ballad of Cherishing" detail image.
derby 4

derby 6
In derby 11 I had a series that included the Hipposhark, one of my very favorite entries ever. The scarecrow is another of my favorites that suffered from a poor shirt detail image.
derby 13
derby 14
slugs
derby 15
derby 16
derby 20
derby 22
derby 24
derby 25
While I love Edgar's work, but I don't 'do' Edgar.

i'm not sure, it might be.

You don't need to explain yourself. ^_^

I suppose not, sigh.
Re: Check, please
I still like your hippo shark.
Re: Check, please
Funny that this was rejected when the detail (240x240) doesn't show a gradient.

Re: Check, please
I erroneously rejected this thinking the thumbnail also had a gradient. Ironically, this was brought to my attention by Josephus in the past. Proof that if you complain to me, I will turn your valid argument against you.
I kid...or do I?
Reinstating the design is not a viable option as it requires our developer to work their crazy voodoo magic. If I could, I would give 10 votes to Josephus' resubmission.

...Does this mean your developer is really busy right now?
