Other artists have had their own sites for awhile and still submit to Woot - wouldn't think ramyB would be any different.

Folks wanting their Ramy fix have somewhere else to buy them now anyways.

Ah, I was not aware of that fact. I'll have to check out the stores from some of the other artists.

I thought maybe woot would have any issue with artists putting themselves in direct competition with the company. Guess not though

Sorry. TBH, 2010 was more its year, as it was reckoned in #193.

Until Woot does a reprint (which I hope for soon), we do have the option of Marilyn Monroecake. I ordered one on Cranberry, to go along with the first run copy I bought already.

Any particular reason why ramyb is frequently labeled as a n o o b on the top 20? Is there some inside joke I'm missing out on?

Edit: Also, editing that word to "foal" is priceless.

All new shirts are labeled as such; it has nothing to do with the artist.

Hm... I may be forced to decide about that curiosity shirt earlier than expected.

I thought it would stay around longer. It has cats, albeit dead ones. Or at least their chalk outlines. IT;s shouldsn't be a permanent things, they just need a little "Satisfaction" to bring them back.

Unless, that is one cat that died nine times. After all, satisfaction can only do so much.

Already have my Curiosity shirt, (so far the ONLY shirt printed on Anvil that I HAD to buy). I don't know how I have missed your own site. I wanted that Banksy shirt SOOOOOO badly and was so disappointed when it didn't win, but now I get it on a hoodie, bonus! HOLY fertilizer! This is fantastic news, how long before Ramy leaves the derby alone and starts focusing his efforts on exclusive designs for his website? We need to make sure all his followers know about this site so they go there instead. And he needs to get forums up so they can talk to each other, I promise not to go trolling anywhere near Ramy-land! So long as they are out of my backyard I don't care what they do, lol

My only fear is that in a Ramyb absence somebody else will rise up to fill the anime bunny/abstract halftone swirl void and we won't be any better off.

I guess it would be nice to yell at somebody different at least.

It's listed under his bio on today's shirt, he has ads running with a $5 coupon, and even JumboWoot posted it on deals.woot... So I'll say that both Woot and Ramy are working together to shift the fans over.

If the side effect of all this is less turbunguins here, then that's a step in the right direction already.

(Disclaimer: His artsy, I don't mind so much, so long as it's not the usual "flowing" stuff. And I'll admit to voluntarily purchasing some of his designs too in recent months, as opposed to accidentally or incidentally.)

Why assume that Ramy is shifting anywhere when he earns tens of thousands a year at shirt.woot? It appears to be an expansion move.
As for changing the nature of shirts on offer here, that seems to be what the voters and buyers prefer. It appears artists are increasingly conditioned to delivering a narrower range of design options to cater to the demand. It's the same concern vocal forum members have railed against since I first visited the site. A significant number of artists who I thought were part of the scene and culture here are either gone or inactive over a fairly short space of time.
I wonder if people have an image of what they want shirt.woot to be and it will never be that because it is something else.

Oh, I know he's not leaving.

Yesterday's 4717 still yielded the same base commission. No doubt he's popular; with the audience's appetite for pop-culture and turbunguins, more power to him that he can put them on shirts more often (and with less drama) than here at Woot.

As for changing the nature of shirts on offer here, that seems to be what the voters and buyers prefer. It appears artists are increasingly conditioned to delivering a narrower range of design options to cater to the demand. It's the same concern vocal forum members have railed against since I first visited the site.

I have definitely seen some artists succumbing to the pop-culture-means-a-better-shot-at-a-print side of things

Democracy has its pros and cons, and the issue lies in the voting masses. If those who do want more artsy would actually spend the time to vote for them, then we would see more artsy. As it is, the voters who like pop culture outnumber them.

A significant number artists who I thought were part of the scene and culture here are either gone or inactive over a fairly short space of time.

Though I'm not an artist, I can definitely feel the exasperation of putting so much effort into a design, only to lose to overly similar designs, week after week - thus, the interest gets lost.

No doubt, it's never been promised that it's easy here at Woot. But after a while, it does raise the question as to "why bother?"

(Many times, the ones I truly want to print are outside the fog.)

I wonder if people have an image of what they want shirt.woot to be and it will never be that because it is something else.

For better or worse, shirt.woot is still shirt.woot.
