Staff

Time again for another march toward t-shirt doom! Discuss this week's life-or-death struggle for sales supremacy as chronicled on the Reckoning page all week long.

Here's how the Reckoning week runs now: every Tuesday at midnight, we retire the previous week's lowest-selling shirts and launch this here discussion thread. Tuesday around noon we'll post the all-new, all-early Reckoning Recon. On Friday, we'll juice demand and prime the pump with a little weekend reminder post. Finally, on the following Monday, the Day of Reckoning post sounds the last call for the Reckoned shirts. All of those posts will be linked below. Monday night (or Tuesday morning), it starts all over again. The Reckoning, she is a hungry beast...

Trying to find a witty comment to match this since "that meta are we" followed by *raspberry sound* doesn't seem high brow enough.

In some weeks he was down to only a half (collab).

Also, back in #200, he was one shirt away from not making it.

Otherwise, his 3+ year record of continuous presence in the reckoning still stands.

I have enjoyed looking at interesting shirt sales.

Well, we have stats links back! Too bad they do not link to accurate stats.

Forever Toasty is listed as "Sold Out" from the Reckoning page. Guess we're still working out the "shirts for sale" bug! Woot is loading at the speed of molasses for me; if it's any faster for someone else, could you spot-check the other Reckoning shirts to make sure their sales links are active?

I think he is just referring the the fact that it's been about a WHOLE month without ramyb winning a derby.

(Seems to have coincided with the thread about him "borrowing" ideas from other artists for his own shirt website)

Why are Graiiiinss and Pangaea: Supercontinent listed as being 2 weeks on the reckoning list? They should be marked 1 week with a "nube" banner.

Some (but not all, look at "Cheater" for an example) shirts give a "Woots Sold" number in the WootBot post at the top of the discussion thread. But those numbers are clearly wrong, so I don't know what that means.

I was thinking last night that Woots Sold was the number of Woots, not the number of shirts. Also it may or may not be taking into account Woot-Off and Amazon Site sales.

I suppose that's possible, but it seemed like all the "Woots Sold" I could see were in the 6000-6020 range. This makes me suspect it's some kind of placeholder, something we probably shouldn't be seeing at all.

To add to the numbers confusion: The sales stats for "Forever Toasty" said this morning that it sold 1000 copies on the first day, but now it says 1018. Does it now track sales past the first day? *edit: I see that it probably does, the number has gone up a little more*

Also, the stats sheet says "Order totals: Reserved/Sold/Shipped 18 of 20,000. That can't be right... It should be 1018 of 6000. I guess it's all mixed up right now since the change. I imagine they have the real, accurate sales somewhere!

On top of that, the number on the comments page shows up as 543. Mass confusion ensues!

Also, I don't understand what Woot has against putting your work on an apron. I think the Phoenix would have gone perfectly in this week's side sale, er, WootPlus. Since I can't have a Makin' Bread apron, I'd totes go for this one as a substitute.

Yeah, so there's that...

Just a friendly ponder... all the new shirts are in the danger zone. Maybe that says something about the derby topics lately? Not to say they haven't produced some awesome stuff...

No numbers still, so I'm not gonna bother with the ranking tonight. Besides, there are a bunch of PMs I need to respond to ... which I WILL get around to tonight.

Anyways ... here's Nevermore (which was ordered last Tuesday NOT during the woot-off), new on left, old on right:

Oh! Mutating Goodness, it's readable! Of course, there had to be a catch ...

(sigh) ...

The red shirt is my older copy of The Heart Goes On; keep in mind that I DON'T throw my shirts in a dryer, so it's not like the old neckline would've shrunken down in any way.

It may also say something about how the woot-based DSR works, which disadvantages newer shirts.

ARGH! That stinks. It didn't switch over until Thursday evening.

I was surprised by the difference in the two Nevermores and couldn't help wondering what you have done to that poor bird. For comparison's sake, I went to take a picture of my old and new versions of Nevermore - and got quite a surprise that I wasn't expecting. Pictures in next post..

Hey Ocho, to answer some questions, the page woot sends you for sales stats does track sales past the first day. The number sold on the first day is shown on the top left and should be - xxxx of 99999. As far as the reserved shipped sold, that's the number that they have actually mailed out and has left their shop so far. That number should start to rise dramatically as most of the orders for smart post are fulfilled. To get your total sold then you would add those to the first number of the three listed (I think I'm not looking at one of those pages right now). Does that make sense, cause I think I confused myself. PM me if you need more info.

I just realized something. You said 18 of 20000, if that means what I think it means that means they've raised first day sales to 20000 from 6000 effectively making it impossible now for an artist to sell out on the first day. Yeah Woot

(Sorry for the delay; when I taught the dogs how to communicate that they wanted me, rather than 'outside' or 'dinner,' or whatnot, I imagined that it would eliminate a bunch of tantrums. It has, but I did not realize that it would also mean that I could no longer pretend that I didn't understand they were asking for me.)

Nevermore:

The one on the hanger is my old copy, about 14 months old. The one on the right is new, a back-up ordered about a month ago before it transitioned to Anvil; it's never been washed. The first thing that struck me is that they're different colors! The new one is much lighter than the old one. And then something else caught my eye.

They're not the same size!!! The newer one is about an inch longer and slightly wider. Mind you, when I say they're "not the same size," they're supposed to be the same size.

I wondered if this was because I'd washed one and not the other, although I wash my woot shirts on gentle in cold water and hang dry, so I'd be surprised if I could lose an inch of length and 1/2" of width. I decided to compare two other shirts, same color, both unwashed: World 1-1 Building and Relative Dimensions, the latter of which I'd noticed didn't fit right.

Relative Dimensions underneath World 1-1 Building.

Comparison of sleeves:

The sleeve on World 1-1 Building sets at least 1/2" further down in comparison to Relative Dimensions. If you don't have a bust, you probably have no idea how the set of a sleeve can make a huge difference in how a shirt fits, but let's just say that - on my body, which is a fairly typical "hourglass" shape - this is the difference between being flattering and pulling too tightly over the bust. Part of the problem with the length is similar: the longer length "catches" around the widest part of my hip, while the typical AA WM is a very flattering length. After trying on Relative Dimensions, I honestly thought that I must have gained weight because it was too tight in the bust and the hips. (I can't believe I'm discussing my body; thank goodness I am never going to meet any of you!)

Necks:
The neck on Relative Dimension is considerably narrower than that on World 1-1 Building; not that big of a deal, but it's a little uncomfortable.
