citizencoyote wrote:#21 and #22 surprised me, I thought they both had a little more nerdmentum going than they actually did. Shows how difficult it is to predict anything without numbers, and I'm starting to suspect the lack thereof is not a beta bug, despite what Joel said earlier. Or maybe it is, but is proving much harder to track down than they thought. Not grabbing the tinfoil just yet.

Yeah, I'm surprised at #21 and #22 as well, and I wish we had numbers to clarify what happened. They were #20 and #19 the last time that I saw the standings, around 6AM. Wreckoning, indeed!

As for the tinfoil... There's a difference between being truly paranoid and pointing out that there's opportunity for paranoidists to allege conspiracy/shenanigans/less that pure ulterior motives. I find it extremely unlikely that woot is actually trying to cheat artists, for example, but if woot can't spare a staff member for 15 minutes to write an email to the 22 artists who will have shirts in next week's Reckoning to explain how to read the new format of the artists' tracking stats... well, seriously, someone give me a legitimate reason that can't happen except for "laziness," "incompetence," and "apathy." Accusing woot of possessing those three traits - which are clearly applicable and which woot embraces as part of their "corporate" mission - isn't going to get anything fixed quickly. Accusing woot of something with actual negative repercussions to their reputation - like cheating artists - might be a motivation to get stuff fixed. I am not an I/O psychologist, but I know enough I/O to turn it around on woot.

Besides (and this is key), how do we know woot isn't cheating the artists? Right now, the public has no evidence that woot isn't skimming a few shirt commissions here and there. The artists have some sales figures, but they can't seem to figure out quite what they mean (for more discussion, see the first two pages of this thread; this discussion has lessened since I called out the number of posts in this thread about the artists' tracker). So how do we know that woot isn't cheating the artists? Trust?

Yeah, how well has that been working out this week?

If your, um, posterior region wants a tank top, I suggest you combine my suggestion for Narfcake with his method of wearing it. (More seriously, I'm sorry that the tanks aren't being offered in your size. Is the tank you want being offered as a shirt? I think it wouldn't be too hard to adapt a shirt into a tank top; slightly more challenging for a spaghetti strap than a U-shape.) [/quote]
I was debating getting a Binge, But I can't can't wear Anvil, literally. I was willing to try the tank because no sleeves or arms means I only need to worry about the chest contact areas.

*neuro scratches head, consults side sale* Hmmm... how's the length on the XL tank? It wouldn't be difficult to split the seam and add a side panel to both sides, although that would introduce non-AA fabric, which might be problematic.

My sympathy is dodecaatupled on both counts. I simply couldn't pass as human after 27 hours without caffeine; the withdrawal would be unreal. And being awake due to being in the middle of the pain scale is Not Good; I'm grateful that I'm not there right now, but the memories are all too sharp. It really can't be understood unless it's been experienced and I pray most of you have never been there. Bounty, fingers crossed for you that your pain is lower by tonight or you have the right medication to make it possible to sleep.

After school is out, I'll go cold turkey for a day or so - live through the massive headache - and then return to a sane level of caffeine. I was doing well this year until the spring when I reintroduced Diet Mountain Dew to my morning routine.

The "fun" was nominating an item for each Reckoning Regular based on what I knew about them, which is obviously rather limited. I could have picked one for myself, but I have full information on myself (sort of) and there's one that's absolutely me, so it wouldn't have been very much fun! If anyone else wants to nominate one for me, I'll game (better be, since I did it to everyone else!). I identify as female, but woot doesn't consider me a "real lady". Narfcake is a good egg and I'm honored by his friendship. It's nice to have a worthy foil in the forums.

You hear this everyone!? I don't know her well enough, but what side sale item is NeuroPsychoSocial? She said there is a perfect one for her so now I have to know!

Good luck...I think the withdrawal headache lasted 3 days when I went cold turkey on caffeine in grad school. Since then I've been very careful to keep my caffeine consumption below the withdrawal level.

I guess since you linked to my post I'll explain my reasoning. An artist could get their exact first day sales if they really really wanted to with this wonky stats sheet. You'd just have to hang around at midnight (1am for some :P) and refresh the stats sheet over and over in a couple different browser tabs until one of them shows that it has been reset. Then, the other slightly older tab would show the sales stats just before the end of the sale. That would be an accurate first day sales number. Using that, you'd be able to calculate how much commission you should be getting. Since it is possible to get an exact first day sales number, then someone could catch any "errors" in artist compensation. Super inconvenient, though.

But still... they really should fix the numbers. I sent a beta feedback message. We'll keep on them about it! .

Fair warning: The pain gods read my message to Bounty and decided to retaliate (with the help of some yard work that I probably shouldn't have done, but I refuse to admit that I am not SuperWoman). I usually have a decent sense of humor, but at the moment, I have zero, which means my writing will be over-earnest.

Ochopika, I am sorry that you felt like you needed to explain yourself here because I'd linked to your post in order to demonstrate my point. It's probably too late to matter, but I deleted the link to your post from mine, so if I ever link to my own post again, it will no longer connection to yours. I understand that you don't agree with me that it's problematic accurate sales figures aren't easily and obviously available to the artists.

Side sale thread joke: it was unfair of me to say that there's one item that clearly says "neuro" to Neuro and in the next sentence welcome others to pick an item for me. I certainly didn't intend to set a trap and I apologize.

As this Reckoning thread heads towards a timely death, I wanted to touch base with it and with you one more time; this thread has housed one of the events of my life that I will never forget, that has changed me as a person, and the aftermath - the support, friendship, and acceptance that I've received from all of you - will also never be forgotten and has also changed me.

There are some posts from this Reckoning thread that I would like to respond to but haven't been able to handle the emotional triggers. I'm sorry that I haven't been able to deal with many aspects of what happened or what has been posted since (including support!), but I will try to get there soon and intend to respond in the new Reckoning thread if I'm able to pull myself together.

I'd like to close out this Reckoning thread with some big hugs to everyone who has been so wonderful to me this week. I can never thank you enough or explain how much it's meant to me.

My omission of you was unintentional, but that doesn't make it any less uncool. You are now added to the list!

Yay! And I approve. And as for yours, so many good options but I like Si Turtles.
