We can see it now: the agonized grimaces of the roasting chestnuts, the city sidewalks dressed in Santa suits, the cliquish reindeer gathered around the Monopoly board. Take a Christmas carol, Hanukkah tune, Kwanzaa ditty, Diwali chant, Equinox dirge, etc. and render its lyrics in graphic form. We've done this before with song lyrics, and movie titles, and book titles, and TV show titles, and famous quotations, so take a look at those Derbies if you need a sense of how to approach the subject. Call your entry "Inspired By (Song Title Here)". And you'll probably do better with the voters if that song title isn't "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer".

Hmmm as much as I dislike Xmas shirts, this could be well done... provided, of course, that the rejectionator comes through for us.

To be clear, the design does NOT have to be re-interpreted, correct? Just illustrated?

Did you mean to link "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas?"

Also, I'll predict someone illustrating the "12 Days of Christmas" gifts. But not me. I really don't want to draw all that on Thanksgiving.

No, wait, that'd be a blank white shirt.

Just as long as people realize it's the lyrics that need to be reworked, and not simply the titles.

Keep in mind, holiday songs aren't exactly famous for creative titles

I'm keeping my fingers crossed to see a Saint Lucia style shirt. It's somehow classier in my head than Frosty.

Hopefully if I take the really artistic approach (as far as my designs go) this week, it won't be overlooked. I can do about a million things with angels...

I hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving!

This is a promising derby theme, so I hope we have folks who take time away from their festivities in the next day to come up with good concepts.

I myself may not be able to spring free...

But I forsee about 12 "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" shirts.

About to start rummaging for references! I'm stuffed full after a very lovely Thanksgiving lunch, and I hope eall of those who celebrate had a good one too!

I'll be very surprised if anyone does the same song as me. I have my brother-in-law to thank for that ... he'd shown me this song a long time ago and as soon as I told him the theme he started singing this song! I just hope I do it justice!

Sorry, I've had some of my actual school work (I don't do illustration often, so don't judge me on that haha) lifted by people online, so it's kinda habit :/

I'm wondering if someone is going to do something of The Grinch. From personal experience with the Dr. Seuss people, they don't like people using their characters and they're pretty sue happy.

We even asked for permission and they were like "OH *bleep* NO."

This is actually the second one I drew today... the first idea I had wasn't coming to paper as well as it was in my head. I'll probably try to revisit it, since conceptually I prefer it to this.

they would eventually be getting faces, yes. I'm worried it's too cluttered, but I also have an excessively minimalist aesthetic. :/
