HotIceCream wrote:so cute, that froggie! don't think the shirt needs the text tho. if it's not doing well by tomorrow, perhaps a resub sans text? just a thought.

I'll probably resub tonight. I just wanted it up right away for once.

edit: Nah... I'll just do two different versions to see how they fare in the derby.

Re: Giraffe Leap Years Calendar

too cute (my whole family are giraffe crazies), but would help if i could see how it was placed on the tshirt, and what color the shirt is.
I think there has to be some sort of direct correlation to the theme, and while you did explain what you were thinking, I don't think anyone looking at the shirt outside of this site would understand it.
You're wrong. In the rules you will find: "Maybe your shirt design shows us what you'd do if you had an extra day out of the calendar." I dare say that if I followed that guideline, people would be hard-pressed to figure out that it's a leap-year shirt unless I specifically put "My Extra Leap-Year Day" right on the shirt. And that, of course, would ruin it.

I like this design. There is connection to the number 29. There is leaping. And the design is cool enough to wear year-round, which is a bonus! (Nothing worse than having a Halloween shirt that only makes sense around Halloween.)

I'm sorry that you can't think outside the box on this one. Thankfully we don't all live within those confines.

Re: Leap Day Mascot

Every special day deserves a special mascot. Easter gets Peter Cottontail, St. Paddy's day gets the leprechaun, Christmas gets santa, and Leap Day gets, well, um, this guy.

Go easy on the syntax programmers. Just the leap year algorithm. Just pseudocode.

I like that I'll be walking around in it, and people will go "What the heck is that? Stonehenge?" and I'll say "It's a druidic leap year," and I think I'll be able to tell a lot about the person by their reaction.

Plus, if they're really not having it, I can just say it's a Spinal Tap shirt, which would also be cool.

Cool!

At first, I didn't even notice that it was an optical illusion; I litterally just read "Leap Year" then I realized: that wasn't what was actually written there... Great idea... Way cool...

Like the other Ken said, it simply wasn't immediately clear that this was leap year related.

It does have a dreamcatcher feel to it, doesn't it. Love the fairy reference as this is certainly part of the inspiration behind the design. Your entry is awesome, BTW. Subtle yet with a lot of great information when viewed up close. CLEVER!
