It looks like some kind of alien language, but it's not, I swear.
Ok, so I'm an Arabic Linguist, and as we all know (hopefully!) the number system that we use today are taken from Arabic numerals and this was the key factor in the advancement of math sciences as it replaced the cumbersome Roman numerals back in the day. So my idea here was to show the transformation of the original Arabic number 2 (top most shape, which most people would describe as a backwards 7) into the number 2 we know (and love) today at the bottom.
Now, if you tilt your head to the left, and if you know how to read (a very obtuse and stylized) Arabic, the extra markings added to it spell "Ithnayn" which is how you say "two" in Arabic. Magic!
