Before someone asks.

Yes, there are 3,720 asteroids and one Falcon in my infographic.

this is the first time I actually entered my design on day 1 and the very reason was because I figured someone else would do the same idea.

but I don't mind if you do the same thing. if it's better then I'll gladly vote for it.

If it is more than 6 spot colors, then it is too many colors. Changing tones = new colors. The only permitted way to achieve 'extras' is using the tee as a 7th, and half toning.

Ah yes, we elders must educate our young padawans to be sure the legacy of geekdom survives.

Fun fact, Klaatu, Barada, and Nikto are the names of Jabba's Skiff guards in Return of the Jedi. I may or may not own those dolls... er... super articulated action figures.

This isn't a stock pic.

For this, I customized several Photoshop filters, along with using some effects from Illustrator in order to come up with the overall effect.

Edit: In this particular effect, it primarily uses a random noise generator with a rotation that decays based on phi. I have it set on four (really five, I guess) different 'presets' that I isolate and set to different colors. However, when I was done, I ended up just being happier with a radial gradient across the overall black & white result, which I tweaked in a few places to give it a little more 'flow'.
