Android Jones is the bomb, yo. Hopefully I'll have time to do something in that vein.

Based on the size of his...science fiction...I'm guessing he was compensating for being...short

Yes sir. That's who I choose to be inspired by. Very accessible style of art for me I think.

What do you guys think is better?
version 1?

or version 2?

And do I need to add any more abstract elements to make the reference to Android's work clearer?

It was a typo... I meant to say that I hope it's all kawaii.

Let's not forget two of the giants:

Moebius (Jean Giraud)
Syd Mead

Please someone do a Syd related design. I will just give Woot my money right now.

Version 2 for sure. IMO I would drop the pink and fleshtone. Heck, maybe even invert your color palette and put it on black. The more contrast and glowiness the better for the Woot voter base.

I probably know the answer to this already, but didn't think it would hurt to ask:

If I put the artist's name on a tombstone, would that count as "text?"

I agree with Rasabi- 2, and try some other colors- I really like the look, but the fleshtone crossing across the face like that flattens it in an odd way for me- Changing it from the flesh to another color would possibly keep the dynamic look without the tricking your brain into stretching the image- Very cool sty;le though-

I'm working on one that, IF I finish it, will likely be TOO CREEPY to wear- heh

I started a Space Cowgirl design inspired by Moebius ... and it got strange. Any feedback is appreciated. Is it working?

It's a cool design, maybe a bit busy? I am one to talk though? haha.

Okay so I think I have gotten to a point where I am happy. I couldn't sleep cause I had a bunch of adjustments I wanted to do that I couldn't stop thinking about.

Thanks for the color advice Oakenspirt and rasabi. I am color blind so I appreciate folks watching out for me. I had no idea that it was pink!

Hey if you can make something a lot of people will like while staying excellent that's the opposite of selling out. That's the whole trick to being a good shirt artist, isn't it?

Really nice design.

But we'll probably end up with a batch of face-huggers on foxes, and a Star Wars reference on creme that goes unrejected.

It's funny, usually in the first 10 minutes you see a billion entries flood in. Maybe I will actually sub a design this week since there won't be submission overflow.

HR Giger was my favorite artist as a kid. Sad to see him go. Totally didn't expect that to be the theme this week. I didn't plan to participate.

Also marceepauff, <3 I wish I could enter. I was that little girl with so many giger artbooks. My dad would just censor some pages with paper and I had no idea why. Funny childhood , I had.
