I actually finished Bioshock 1 for the first time this week. Saved all the Little Sisters, naturally.

Hey thanks! Man, that first Bioshock blew my mind, haha. Speaking of which I still need to finish Bioshock Infinite.
I ended up saving them too, but curiosity got the better of me so I saved it and tried harvesting. I felt bad...

transformingegg wrote:I had a bit of fun creating this one a while back. Each element on the card design relates to a common "dad" joke. The text of the "dad" jokes make up the red border in the design. Here is a link to a bigger version where the text is more readable.

Ohhhh! I would SO love for this to Print!

My husband collects card jokers. For years our family has given him unique jokers as gifts. It's not easy, as he has at least 3,000 unique jokers now.

I sure hope this gets lots more votes! Wonderful job!

Funny! But if it was a true cheat sheet, wouldn't it print upside so that Dad can read it?

Regarding the "Water You Waiting For?" derby: What is the definition of Merpeople?
Is it Human top/Fish bottom only?
Is Aquaman a merson?
How about a Human bottom/Fish top?
Why are we being depraved of Mermaids during MerMAY???

Also, I like the excessive use of puns in the Derby descriptions.

I really had hope in this one...

Anyone have any design advice or constrictive criticism for me? I can't seem to make a design that gets votes but I'm not sure where my designs are lacking.

I don't think there's anything specifically wrong with the design. Good colors. Keep in mind that when it comes to cute characters, there's stiff competition... Walmazan, patrickspens, letterq, dooomcat, fishbuscuit5, etc. have been around a long time and have generated an extensive following.

But don't get discouraged. Sometimes it's just the whim of the voters. Maybe people don't come to woot for hippopotami (spoiler: it's cats). I've labored hours over designs that I thought would kill and it barely registered. Others, done in a last minute of inspiration ended up placing. I guess my point is keep designing, because you never know what will be a hit with this audience (spoiler: it's cats).

I'm kind of puzzled about this one. I think I get the Star Trek side of it, but I'm not sure who the dark haired kid is supposed to be. Can someone explain this one?

Thanks.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with your design. I think it's great! I'd just continue to have confidence in your designs and don't think that it has anything to do with you doing something wrong. Honestly the community that votes isn't easy to figure out, I'd argue your design is better than others that have more votes than yours but with votes being so low it becomes a popularity contest. Shamelessly plug your stuff, that's what I do, haha. I'm in the same boat as you. It doesn't matter how much confidence I have in a design, or if my friends tell me it's great, or if the community tells me it's amazing...I'll still end a derby with 12 votes.

Re: HipPAPAtamus

To maddidoodles and momoshwing:

Take my advice for what it's worth... because I am not a shirt designer.

If I was designing shirts, I would enter some designs into the "dailies" as well as the weekly derbies. You could submit your own creative ideas that way, instead of having to fit a Derby subject. A "stand out" concept entered in the dailies might have a better chance of printing. You'll never know unless you try.

But keep entering the Derbies too, so that voters like me can see what you are creating! Good luck, and hang in there.

One more bit of advice; introduce your Derby designs with a brief explanation and/or a humorous comment. It will give your entry more exposure, as it will appear in the "comment chain."

It was suppose to be an air force kid vs a star trek kid. But thought that wouldn't translate well so made an easier one Batman's son vs Superman's son. Even though it will be late will resub

I guessed Air Force, so yay!
Conceptually, it's tough since you're mixing real/fictional characters. Star Wars vs Star Trek or the Batman/Superman combo you mentioned above makes more sense I think.

There is just so many combos to choose. Should have used this one. But it was fun to see all the guesses on the first one.
