Re: Inspired by Winter Wonderland (Resub)

I am so incredibly disappointed that this shirt isn't even in the fog! This shirt is simple yet beautiful and could be worn from now through February, not just Christmas time. There's only one other shirt in the fog that I'd wear, but I'd rather wear this one. Oh, shirt.woot voters, you're letting me down once again.

I'm sad, this was the only one in this derby I really, really wanted. ;_; You might consider changing it slightly and resubbing to another place this month. I'm sure another tee place would love to print this for December.

Looking forward to this printing soon! Very adorable and well done image by Patrickspens. The little girl is just made of adorableness.

Re: Inspired by The Twelve Days of Christmas

This is a super amazing illustration! When I saw the pencil sketch I was afraid it might be too busy, but you did a great job making everything stand out. This is a very cool holiday shirt, and it sort of has a Seussian feel, which rocks.

The socks are good. Needed, frankly. The red on the houses would just look silly otherwise... I'm not sure how someone can be more confused about a deer wearing socks than a deer with a whole damn landscape poking out of his back.

Great design. Voted.

Re: Inspired By: 12 days of Christmas

This is one of the cutest and most clever shirts this week! It's also nice that it's not overtly seasonal, so you can wear it year round. Nice job! I would love to see this print!

This is one of the coolest illustrations this week, at least to me ^^;. If this doesn't print this week I hope you'll submit it to another venue. I think any shop would be really glad to showcase it, and I know people would love to buy it . I really like the owl's faces. And like I said before, it reminds me of Labyrinth...mmmm, David Bowie...

To me, this is one of the prettiest and most graceful designs this week. The snowflakes are really beautiful and the colors are lovely. It's great to see another shirt that's not blatantly Christmassy, but still makes you feel wintery and cheery. Great job, I know this will make a ton of people happy if it prints!

Honestly, I don't think that three music notes are enough to link it to that song, or any song for that matter. The bird is cute, but the calling birds shirt makes more sense.

Agreed. Especially considering I'm Jewish, and wouldn't buy any Christmas shirts. (Not that I'd really buy any Channukah shirts either, haha)

I'm sure you're right uncchris -- but I'm providing a design for those few members of the woot comm, who like my work as is( down to the last pixel in fact ).
Thanks for the input nevertheless.. ;]

Love the shirt, love the concept. The only problem I have is where two holes overlap, why is there still a hint of "night" between the two? Shouldn't it be one big eight-shaped hole? Still, GMV.

He's the reaper in holiday mode, with but one idea in mind, namely to spend a little prime-time with family and that's all I set out to render. It would seem however, that his wicked reputation, is getting in the way, for a lot of the people who've commented thus far. Guess I've got it wrong again, as to how the mainstreamy would react to my design.. :[

Disclaimer: This post is not an attempt to support or detract from either of the artists highlighted below. I just thought that since there have been a couple of comparisons made between Ramy and Draxxx in this thread that I would post a side-by-side image with several of their designs so that everyone could have some visuals to go from. I consider this a public service so that people can form their own opinions from the evidence. Please excuse me if this post has inadvertently offended.

mrwednesday wrote:I'm not really here to tell anyone how to vote, but if you care at all about the spirit or the letter of the derby and all of the artists involved, I do think the answer is pretty clear.

I'm not trying to take sides one way or another...but the whole voting thing is if you'd want the shirt or not. In fact, the vote button is literally "Id want one".

Some people do care about the 'spirit' of the derby and all that, but sometimes you just may really like to have the shirt, even if it is a many-times-reused design concept. Many of ramy's designs I would not buy, nor wear, yet others I love that specific execution even if the basic design is similar.

personally, I just look at each shirt individually and if I figure I'd totally love to wear it. I vote for it. Everyone votes for their own personal reasons, and everyone has that right. Can't really say who is more 'right' than the other
