It's actually an advanced form of torture used by the Candy Corn people. In recent times it has been publicly outlawed, but this doesn't mean it doesn't still occur in secret meetings or ceremonies.

Pantone colors on the other hand are an internationally accepted standard for printed color...

Agreed, however a Pantone color will still look wrong on an uncalibrated or improperly calibrated monitor, just as a Hex color will look different. Either way, unless your monitor is well calibrated, you still won't know exactly what you're getting until it's printed. I do get that using Pantone colors takes out the uncertainty at the printed end though. As you said, PMS 186 is PMS 186 no matter what your monitor settings are.

That said, I'll be adjusting my AI and PSD shirt templates to match the Pantone colors... eventually.

So … crap, you broke the rule. This was just awesome. I absolutely love it, and it even has text. And I usually hate text! No one (sane) will ever say that fablefire’s execution is lacking, but his/her (dammit I know this one) concept on this shirt was just fantastic.
Verdict: Gimmie.

Thanks Wangus8! I had to give up on fonts and draw the text in by hand. >.<

KandyKorn - A secretive and remote tribe of anthropomorphic candy. Sworn enemy's of the orange and black wrapped peanut butter candies, they can be found each halloween duking it out for the 'least favorite candy' spot. Only the bravest KandyKorn warriors survive "the hardening", a process wherein these Kandys subject themselves to superheated steam, crystalizing their internal sugars and leaving them practically tasteless and hard as rocks. These forgotton candies then remain, ignored and uneaten, in the bottom of the candy bowl, until they can sneak away into the walls of your house, where they can lay traps for unsuspecting toddlers and vacuum cleaners.

True story! I recently vacuumed up a few KandyKorn under my bed from about 2 years ago, and oh my! They were feisty.

Titled the Derby Charts

  • Added Top VPH, Hotness, FOG stats to Entry Landing Page
  • Split Active and Inactive Entries to reduce loading times
  • Tooltip rollover on all entries for quick and easy stat viewage.

Don't forget to register and create your own personal dashboard where you can monitor all the shirts you want in a 1 stop location. Also coming soon to registered users, fog email alerts, so you know exactly when your entry made it into the fog or when it left.

Keep the suggestions coming and I'll keep fiddling with the site.
Don't forget to visit (http://shirtstats.com).
Thanks!

That's the same problem I had with Great Expectations... I mean, a thief ends up inheriting money and giving it away? Some old hag has enough strength to toss herself on a fire? These discrepancies from what I hold to be real life have no place in works of fiction!

For some reason I always picture a typical movie boardroom setting with woot employees and obscure cartoon characters discussing high-vote entries for hours from a seller's standpoint. I just can't get around that thought.
Maybe "All Your Treats" (though that's not its entry title) was one of those were a few people stormed out of the room while debating. It must have taken a while to console the rogue boardmembers and get them back in the discussion so they could vote reject or not reject.
It's probably the exact opposite of that, though, sadly.

Also, I would say "Oh, Poor Derek!" but that lucky guy's still got one in the top 8, so I'll hold my pity until all his designs are rejected. Or until Sun Decay shows up in a Ziploc bag.

Hopefully someone with more experience in Gimp will be able to answer your question as to what you would have to do to get your colors on separate layer if you didn't work that way from the start. I'm thinking the best way might be something like "magic lasso (or color select)/copy/paste on new layer", but I don't really know.

That's what I was thinking too.....probably creating duplicate layers each time you decide to add a new color.

Thank you !

Girl with fangs are kewl. ;) I did one a little similar for the Night derby, but got nailed for being off-topic. This would have been the week to re-enter, but I decided it wasn't up to the challenge anymore.

The witch just made it to New Hotness and I am sure that I must have some sort of mental illness, because I am almost giggly about it. Oh well. At least I'm happy and that must be worth something.

I am really appreciative to everyone who made constructive comments earlier and helped me with their feedback. It's nice that you can get that here. I've been on other forums where asking for opinions is like saying "Hey, stomp all over my heart! OK, thanks!!"

In case anyone is wondering, this is the existing shirt that "all your treats" is/was similar to:

I asked them about it before I even submitted my design. They said it should be ok, but apparently they were on the fence until now and decided that to be consistent with past rejections (the "there is a ninja on this shirt" specifically), they needed to give me the reject-o-gong.

That said, I am now actively soliciting pity votes for my other entry:
