exactly. how long has cheesesandwich been trying? and it looks like (knock on wood) he's finally stuck one.

For the record, I like moon beach resort, it is a very pretty design, but suffer too much from derbythemeitis to get my vote. But I did vote for studio 42. Finally, a great looking, wearable hitchhikers reference!

Not a graphic or website designer. I paint on canvas I've also done illustrations for a couple of children's books, but I'm an amateur when it comes to graphic design. I'm having a blast experimenting with the new medium of digital "painting", if you will. :o)

Man, I wish this shirt would get more votes. It's *exactly* the kind of shirt that I would wear. It reminds me of GI Metro...say what you will about either shirt, but they're both funny/quirky with a simple design. They're both the sort of shirt that makes people do a double take.
Anyways, why dontcha go vote for it?

Wow...that's so weird...that shirt reminding you of 'GI Metro'.

Why would that happen I wonder ;)

Well you seem to be doing a decent job of it...i am all computer when it comes to any artistic ability...my brother got the physical artistic abilities...he can draw like there's no tomorrow...but alas...i am a stick figure girl...i would love to learn to paint though...i imagine its very theraputic.

There's a pretty disconcerting, pessimistic and unnervingly realistic sentiment surrounding a shirt showing the all-but-drowned Florida peninsula as a state of islands, and - likewise - California being detached, submerged or wiped out entirely from our great nation.

As the author of the Florida shirt, thanks! That's kind of what I was going for. I honestly believe that sometimes the court jester can get away with speaking truths the royal advisers wouldn't dare.

That said, I personally didn't vote for the China shirt because while my design is arguably no less bleak, I feel the idea of rising oceans is less likely to incite a beat-down than a communist takeover of our beloved country. Honestly, you've either got to be very brave, very strong, or live in a very open-minded area to walk down the street wearing a shirt like that. Free speech exists, for sure, but that doesn't always stop someone from getting beat up for being inflammatory. I think the author stated that they weren't being pro-communism, but that hardly matters if someone with a lot of national pride and a short fuse decides otherwise.

Finally, the religious shirts. Some of them are being derogatory, for sure. What I think is interesting, though, is that some of them could be worn by a believer as well. The one that says "I met Jesus. We had supper. It was cool." Could just as easily be worn by someone who believes strongly as by someone who wants to mock.

Good news RobGlenn,
Even if you don't make it into the fog, you can find out wether the University of Hull got enough calls or e-mails to start up their Dodo Appreciation Society, and have a built in market.

No, you have to delete it by hitting the red X next to it, and resubmit.

Hmmm. I don't know.

Definitely some similarities (well, the entire concept, for starters... and the black on red-ness) but all-in-all I think it's executed differently enough to stay in.

It's no more or less like many others that have stayed. Then again, I've seen others get the boot for less.

We'll see.

Detail and Comp images have to be .JPG. It's recommended that you save your JPG at the highest possible quality level (alternatively, with no compression) and at the proper dimensions to avoid artifacting if the image is displayed at less than full size.

Very nice! I had started a pic of a spiral of imploding stars, with 'whimper' in the middle. With, "Come watch the end of it all" at the top and "Islands outside the stream of time resort" at the bottom. I ran out of time to work on it and spent too much time deciding whether the stars would be red shifted or blue shifted from the point of the observer, before realizing that they would all have clumped into black holes long before hand. Nothing like too much research to get in the way of a t shirt design. :D

Six. I am not one of them. Pink shirts only look good on fit male hipsters with nice sunglasses and cool shoes. I am neither fit nor hip and my sunglasses cost $5... in 1993.

gargrazz wrote:I don't reference the movie in any direct way and I'm not sure you can copyright the CONCEPT of traveling to Orion's Nebua with your tree in a bubble. I made sure to reference the image of a guy in the bubble, but the design is hand-drawn (rendered?) and not traced or live-traced. I covet live-trace... but only have CS1, not CS2... and I have no idea how to use Illustrator. Everything's done in Photoshop.

I will admit that I traced Iowa. But it was a PD image of Iowa. Accuracy was key. :^)

flying through space in a bubble is a pretty abstract concept... at least the way it was depicted in the film "The Fountain". and if i were the writers/producers of that movie, i would get my attorneys after it. to me, it's clearly a copy of images depicted in the film. the tree, the guy next to the tree and the bubble... anything that i create is mine as long as its not crossing lines... as long as it isn't clearly a copy of someone else's creation. but that's why you have the courts and copyright law... if you want to claim something as your own original idea, you'll have to prove it. and for the film makers of "The Fountain", all they have to show is the date of your file and the date of their film.

my woot list:
6/20/07 - Refurbished Ear Wax Collector
7/16/07 - Shiny 8.1 MP Samsung Digimax
5/28/08 - (2) 2GB MicroSD inflanagastion chamber
11/20/08 - three false sense of security ipod locks
4/9/09 - apple 8GB 4th gen ipod nano (black)
