I think he means that almost everything you could type on your keyboard does not belong on your design. Might be a good way to look at it.

Jack31081 wrote:In 'City Without Words', there was a no-text stipulation.

His entry had a collage of city-related imagery. One of those images was a stop sign. The entry was rejected because of the letters on the stop sign, even though they were in no way relevant to the design.

No text means no text.

yep, sadly this is true.
looked over past descriptions for no text derbies. no text is none whatsoever.

it's kinda too bad they have to be that specific. things like the stop sign example should be ok, but if they let people have an inch...

ok, I actually have an idea I think I'll submit this time. But first a technical question. How dark is the navy shirt color? And how well does black show up against it? I don't really want to do baby blue, so it may be royal if the navy is really dark.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH........ whatever.

I have not. Perhaps I'll check that out again if there's any interest in maintaining it.

I like the top part but overall feels a bit unbalanced and the perspective bugs me.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Better shirt color ideas? I think it needs to be on a dark shirt but I didn't want black. Any ideas on placement? Right now I have it in the middle of the chest. I don't ask much, do I.

It was nice taking last week off actually, now I'm ready to jump back in!

American Samurai had some black accents on a Navy shirt. In my opinion, they didn't show up very well at all.

As you all have already abandoned the other thread already I am reposting here...

Thanks all for putting me back in my 30-40 vote comfort zone... much less stressful than being near the top. :P

hmmm. thanks. maybe I'll go with grey accents, or outline on the black. <sigh>. I want a color dark enough to make the white pop, but not so dark I lose details.

Navy is VERY dark... as in unless you hold it against black in a dimly lit closet dark...

well, to me the shadows behind the buildings put me off. I can understand the shadows on the ground OK, but the shadows up high seems to be on...air? kind of gives the design a 'meta' feel that I don't think you want.

I'm new to shirt.woot.com, and I'm thinking about entering this derby...I know I'll be lucky if I can finish one design, but just in case, is there a limit on the number of designs you can submit?
