There's really not much difference between giving Pac Man the (slight) attributes of a pumpkin, than giving these color blocks those of razor blades, is there? Maybe if I used the golden arches, this would be safe from legal scrutiny? Pfff.

God, you're kidding, right?

Not that I think this was a great design, but if this isn't in the realm of parody, HOW DID THE CONSUMERISM DERBY HAPPEN???? For that matter, you'd think there'd be a little more worry about the fact that we're still selling a design with an identical concept and title to another popular $10 shirt a day site.

We need a good, solid set of rules. If you want to reject something for being stupid, fine, say so, you're the bosses, you can do whatever you want. But don't reject for copyright when you have done and are currently selling worse.

People always get up in arms when their favorites are rejected. The methods of rejection are almost as haphazard as some of the entering. And then we forget until next time. ^_^ It's sad that woot breaks our hearts so.

Adder is indeed wise, but Fable gets his ringing endorsement in that catagory as well

Re: Quit the Pack

Since my other entry is generating it's own love, I thought I'd force some love into this one. C'mon, smokers, wouldn't you love a healthy, flowery cigarette? Those damn militant non-smokers wouldn't know what hit 'em!

What? You're one of those non-smokers? Well, then, wouldn't you love cigarettes to say "I quit, I'm no longer going to be deadly, I am going to be floral and surround myself with bunnies"?*

*No bunnies are actually included in this design, though I'd considered.

Re: Plan B

So... thanks for the support and critiques! To elaborate a bit...

Yes, I did use clip art and text. I said I would (...and you all thought I was kidding!). It just works into the theme this week. Here's my rationale:

The theme is about quitting, and my shirt is about moving on to Plan B. My personal Plan A of submitting quality artwork entries wasn't working, so I quit and went on to Plan B. Since I was losing to clipart and text, I figured, "if you can't beat them, join them - and then beat them at their own game." ;) The concept is also mocking the typical, rockstar-esque dream, so I wanted to use the typical rockstar-esque design. Hand drawn art looked too freelance-ish, so I went for cookie cutter art. It was much faster AND I got to work on other artwork.

All in all... I was just going with the theme. ;)

...and I had no idea there was a contraceptive called Plan B. Although, even if I did, I would have done this anyway. To me, and many people on most occasions, Plan B usually means the alternate plan. I can see how recent events would make people think of the contraceptive though. Just a fun, twisted aspect of the design I guess. =D

Re: Quilter-Quitter

It might be more appropriate if that wasn't embroidery. Quilting is when you sew through a top layer, batting and a bottom later, usually the top being patchwork. Those diagonal stitches are embroidery

discodancing wrote:You know, I honestly don't care if you believe me or not. I wasn't around.

The shirt was a commentary on people getting frustrated and threatening to leave. When I read the description of this week's topic, I thought it fit. That's it. You're welcome to believe I was secretly developing some alternative master plan. I guess I like the idea of that - makes the design so much sinister and mischievous...

blame it on the puffs....

I never thought it was meant with mean intent. No one with your whimsically goofy sense of humor would be that snide. I didn't vote for it 'cause I couldn't see myself wearing it, but I'm sad that woot booted it for a stupid and uninformed reason.

And the puffs have been growing on me, I wouldn't mind seeing another puff shirt or at least antoher segment of the puffaluff story. ;)

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH........ whatever.

Also, I'd buy this if you incorporated 6 more pieces of clip art. Make sure they vary in color only slightly.

Can we see any similarities at all???? Any?

Great job conveying gradients via the subtle shades of brown. And their position around the edges gives it a nice, three-dimensional "buldge" effect.
