Re: The Gears of The Leap Year

This is a visual representation of Feb 29th, 2008. The 29th is represented by the red spoke among 28 black spoke. 2008 is found in the 2, gears, and 8 behind the F for February. A bit abstract, but has the benefit of being wearable at other times of the year.

These Leapsters Don't Care about the Leap Year....why should I? Please vote for these cute apathetic (yet poisonous) frogs.

By the way this is intended as a parody of that Rent song being wrong one fourth of the time.

Re: Til leap year gives her one day more.

Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November;
All the rest have thirty-one
Save February, she alone
Hath eight days and a score
Til leap year gives her one day more.

The words wrapped around the back of the design are the last three lines of the poem. The design is romantic, flirty and contemporary in an effot to pay tribute to the idea that on Leap Day women can propose marriage. (Believed to have originated in 5th century Ireland between St. Bridget and St. Patrick....or so I've been told.)

The design contains wedding rings below the dove and the floral components are adornments are placed in a way to mimic a corsage or wedding bouquet to identify the historical significance of Leap Day being on the day on which women could propose to men for marriage.

Re: Come on Earth! Pick up the Pace!

Come on Earth! Pick up the Pace! We've been told that the earth takes 365 days to revolve around the sun, but it actually takes about 365.25 days. Thus, the need for the extra day every 4 years. Here's my tribute to the earth/sun relationship and the slacker earth that just can't make the 365 record time!

It says "LEAP" and "YEAR" at the same time, with the bonus of 1 in 4 letters being higher.

Re: The Leapers

I wish the 29 was smaller, and directly underneath the right hand side of the word. I think it looks kind of dumb being so large, especially with the text on an angle.

Frisbee Dog, Leaping Champion. With Bandanna 229 to indicate the relevance to the February Leap Day. Go on entry # 229. You can do it! Identifies the Leap Day, but in a design that can be worn year round ... and especially on the weekends when you do frisbee with your furry friend!

Since I don't think my last description/suggestion made much sense, here's the closest example I could find via a 10 second Google search :

Re: Its A Leap Year!

In all likelihood, this is and will be the best shirt in this derby, by a long shot. Even if it does look like public domain clipart's out in full force.

That said, I wonder what'll beat it.

Re: The Day That Gets Away

I said it before in the forums, I like the design, and if it was offered I'd buy it just because of that.

That being said, I never would see that and say, "Oh, it's speaking about a leap year". I think there has to be some sort of direct correlation to the theme, and while you did explain what you were thinking, I don't think anyone looking at the shirt outside of this site would understand it.

Re: Rent was wrong

You're not really doing a parody if you clearly use the logo, because of that I see a rejection coming.

Oh, and Rent is my favorite show btw ...

Think of it as a parody of the song "Seasons of Love".

Re: Druid Leap Year (A Minor Calendar Adjustment)

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I tried to do a design that could be about leap year, but could also be just something you can wear year round and has nothing to do with leap year. This one might be an uphill battle though.

so cute, that froggie! don't think the shirt needs the text tho. if it's not doing well by tomorrow, perhaps a resub sans text? just a thought.
