Yahhh!

After years of being blown up, stabbed, mangled, and mercilessly doodled to death the stickmen are revolting!

Give us your stickmen & stickwomen!

I agree. I think shirt has a lot of very good elements. I'm just not sure how overturning your desk expresses this well.

Re: LIfe, Liberty and the Pursuit.

Here's a Declaration of Independence shirt from the National Archives
http://estore.archives.gov/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=F-16-3483
And here's one from cafepress
http://www.cafepress.com/umbrella_shop.9458245

While neither of these are blue, and neither of these have a place to sign a name,
it just shows that there are lots of DOI shirts available elsewhere. Even if yours has a different intent, the first thing people see is the first few lines, and I am guessing that few people will read further. Heck most people don't look at all the designs here at woot before voting.

This is not a knock against your idea. I just wanted to point out the overlap here. If woot agrees with you, and lots of people vote for this, more power to you.

toe2254 wrote:while i certainly appreciate your (albeit late) defense of this design, i think it's best this shirt stays where it is. besides the fact that woot doesn't "unreject" shirts, the reason for rejection was valid. as i am a southerner and the flag is a part of my heritage, though not a part i'm particularly proud of, i and most people from the south see it differently than people who weren't born here. however, i'm sure that's true in any part of the world where people fought among themselves. no doubt if we were in Russia a lot of the designs featuring Lenin would be considered offensive. designs like this are all over the southern states and sell really well. you can get them at just about any souvenir shop, so to me it didn't seem that controversial.

I don't blame woot for rejecting it, nor do i harbor any bad feelings about the rejection. it wasn't doing well at all and i was considering pulling the design myself.

I have to disagree. The Confederate Flag is not a symbol of revolution. It is a symbol of refusing the revolution. The anti-slavery movement was the revolution of the time, not the Confederates. If anything, the American Flag of the period was the symbol of revolution.

Im sorry but I may be a little dense. Is there a joke that Im not getting. Is "let them eat pancakes" some sorty of internet slang or something like "PWNED"? And what do people type on woot for it to filter it as PAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNCAAAAAAKEs?

it's a parody of the legendary saying of Marie Antionette:

Wikipedia, the most reliable source on the internet wrote: * The queen responded, "Qu’ils mangent de la brioche" ("Let them eat cake)," when she was initially confronted by the poverty of the French people. There are a variety of versions concerning the circumstances under which Marie Antoinette supposedly first said these words (ranging from peasants coming to the gates of Versailles begging for food to her driving through Paris and seeing the condition of the peasants on her own). However, the quote actually comes from the philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who commented that a "certain princess" said it, the supposed princess being Louis XIV's queen, Maria Theresa of Spain. Maria Theresa's quote was, "S'il ait aucun pain, donnez-leur la croûte au loin du pâté", which roughly translates to, "If there be no bread, give them the crust off of the pâté". Though this claim concerning the Spanish princess is also backed up by the comte de Provence, it is unknown if she, or any other French queen, actually ever said it.

Raikus wrote:This was a really great design that for some reason just isn't pulling in the votes. I do think the first version you had posted in the comment thread was more powerful. It looked like the tree was barren. It just struck me as a strong image.

Regardless, great design and stick with it. You're sure to win a derby with those skills.

I don't think that was a different version - just an unfinished version. If you look at it, you can see the leaves being put in. The linework was complete, but colour was not.

The unfinished version probably could have stood on its own though. Different message, of course.

I appreciate you thinking i'm good at it - but there's absolutely no reason to suggest what woot should do - and more importantly, discouraging, and condescending the growing number of very talented people that enter in the contest. Please stop posting stuff like this in my thread. I'm very sorry for the people who have to read BS such as this. Thanks.

Sir, your attitude is poor. Other members are pointing out that you are good enough to be a "regular contributer" that would be a regular job. Apparently your delicate artist sensibilities are offended. "Thank you" would be more appropriate here. I vote for your submissions but I think that I might have to sit this week out.

Always have loved your designs, human genome is amazing.
its too bad that this is in 4th right now and swapping back and forth with pwnd

this derby seems to be producing some of my fav designs. i really want this, pwned and nightmare on wall street

risky business and strike are clever at first but don't seem to have that "awesome on a t-shirt" more like just "awesome graphic"

thats why i hope this is made cus its a kickass design no mater if you know that it was a woot made t-shirt for a derby called "Join the Revolution"
