cats can't help their nature. even though we've domesticated them they're no different than their larger cousins in the wild. even though we feed them the instinct to hunt is still there.

Hmm, I suppose I'm obligated to vote for this one. Good thing I like it.

Re: Operation Boogeyman

Thanks for the kind comments fellas (and fellinas). I was trying to tap into a Gary Larson vibe with the design, but my freehand skills are lacking. Still trying to improve on that so my apologies. Thanks again for the votes!

These shirts run extremely small. I would bet a women's small or extra small would fit your little one.

You are so funny- thanks. I am practicing and reading the rules for next time. I got it - no bresteses and no signs, symbols, or text - I wanted to do an 'okay' sign centered on the shirt, but figured that would break another rule. I feel so rejected this week!!!!

laff at the commentary. This should fog since it's a blatant rip off of a past shirt and on light blue.

Totally fits the theme and I love the way it climbs up the shirt. Well done.

Cool idea, but a little creepy, especially because of The Dark Knight. Might be better with the flames as decals.

I find this shirt rather...tragic. I keep seeing the little guy 5 seconds later...and it isn't pretty. It kinda makes me want to cry.

Poor little turtle.

fablefire wrote:I really like the idea. I can totally relate because I had a similar incident with Chinese pepper sauce. IT'S NOT SALSA.

Anywho... while I like the idea, I think the cartoonish, humanoid execution is probably not a good for for the derby. I would go for more of a Japanese motif with maybe a lucky cat choking on wasabi, and perhaps a japanese floral print on the background decor.

Solid concept and illustrator work though.

Given how many times that happens to me with wasabi I would love to see that shirt! Sounds awesome.

I remember a shirt similar to this that was on Woot a very long time ago, but it was much more wearable.

Re: Sudden Death

Wow... the derby page is really messed up right now.

Also - Fable is my hero.

Have you ever read the webcomic "Minus"? It's different than others in that it's painted on a giant canvas with water colours. The story revolves around a little girl with inexplicable and limitless magical powers and what she does with them. The story ended a few weeks ago. One of the comics involved a deadly meteor as well, and the last panel showed her waiting with a baseball bat.

(Unofficial) Derby Rules (outdated?)
Designing for the Derby (definitely outdated)
Tips for New Designers (always useful)

Thanks Maniac! Did this one for my husband and my mom because they are always complaining that my shirts are too complicated. Glad you like it.

There are so many great shirts this week. Can't wait to see which ones make the top four. I'm sure we are in for a few silly and witty ones!

Thanks again!

I don't suppose Heart Salad would mean anything to you? My friend has a webcomic at called Heartsalad.com, and he basically did exactly this, only it was at least a couple years ago. See for yourself.

Your art is better, but the idea is the same. I already have his version on a shirt.

Re: Perilous Precipitation

After the cake and cookies are gone and you are left in a sugar high induced stupor, be sure you don't forget your pinata out to weather the er...weather. Paper mache and precipitation is a deadly combination. At least if you happen to be made of it.

Re: Canaries in the Coal Mine

The canary in the coal mine has long been dead.
Were he given the chance he would have fled
For twas by his keeper he was misled
To those dreary depths where no lives tread.

Not long ago man lived more in stead
With Mother Nature, they shared her bed,
But many now have it in their head,
That man and beast have become unwed.

We too are caged, or are you too led
To believe we're free? No woes ahead?
High upon your perches, happy, overfed,
While your masters find ways to reduce your bread.

The signs are many, though many go unread,
They're beneath our feet and fly overhead,
Will you open your eyes, or bury your head
And share the same fate of the canary instead?

Re: Emergency Umbrella

I am in love with this shirt, it's by far the best one in this derby. All of which is to say that I really don't understand the average Wooter psyche. In my megalomaniac world this would be printed by now. Alas I am a humble teacher and artist and can only ask you to consider getting this printed elsewhere if it doesn't make it. And, oh yes, definetly the orange.
