Your art is better, but the idea is the same. I already have his version on a shirt.

Maybe if the heartsalad image used a grenade you would have something here. But no... go away.

P.S. there's nothing funny about his image except how poorly drawn it is, and how you think it resembles this one at all.

His eyes are full of life--they remind me of my Newfoundland who has passed but still is the greatest dog I've ever known. Awesome design, and fun hat! Go, Dog, Go!

No matter what anyone else says, this shirt is awesome, the best so far in this derby. When it gets printed, I'll definitely be in for one.

i really like your mage also! although (in all honesty) i would have liked to have seen you do it more in the style of the cat from the energy derby. still a great design though. GMV

Noted. Thanx for the suggestion and the vote. Initially, I was going to do a tornado, but I'm glad I didn't. I think this one would've put mine to shame! I'm not skilled in impressionistic vectors yet.

I think you said you were new. Woot is fairly consistent on rejected off topic designs. Which is too bad. This is cool but if/when they reject it, you won't be able to resubmit to another derby without changes.

I understand the traditional definition of "emergency", but I enjoy taking things a little farther sometimes. According to the definitions I posted, my design could be considered an emergency - it all depends on how much creativity the Big Woot Cheese will allow. Actually I am surprised it hasn't been axed yet.
If I was ever near The Fog I might worry about it, but that's not going to happen.

I am doing this mainly to learn how to use Photo Shop Elements. I am primarily a visual artist and photographer (but I really don't like to overdo the use of Photo Shop in my work).

Beautiful illustration and pretty funny :D I think a lot of shirts would look good printed in this derby, but for some reason this one just seems like it would be best! Doesn't look like it's gunna win but great design

And I wish I saw the eye earlier but I no longer have access to the computer I made the design on so I can't submit a new one. It kinda looks like Plankton from Spongebob. Isn't that great? It's such a versatile design! Cyclops, mouth, Plankton... what else could it be? The possibilities are endless... he..hehe.. -.-;;

I wish you were still there, too! I love turtles, and this one is adorable! If it makes you feel better, I never saw it as an eye ;)
My only concern is that I think the turtle should be bigger on the shirt. He looks a bit small to me!

I love pinatas, and so does my friend! This would be perfect for him Though I honestly don't think rain would hurt a pinata that much.... maybe try something involving fire instead? Much more menacing than rain in my opinion.

I know that a shirt with people doing the YMCA dance on it got rejected for being too text-y last week :/ Though that derby didn't allow any text at all. But I'm not sure if this counts as "incidental" text...

yeah, sorry about that. i was originally going to call it something else, but changed it at the last minute. i could justify the misspelling by saying the bird is the trophy, but i just spelled it wrong. no doubt the spell checker police will come and take me away any minute.

fablefire wrote:I really like the idea. I can totally relate because I had a similar incident with Chinese pepper sauce. IT'S NOT SALSA.

Anywho... while I like the idea, I think the cartoonish, humanoid execution is probably not a good for for the derby. I would go for more of a Japanese motif with maybe a lucky cat choking on wasabi, and perhaps a japanese floral print on the background decor.

Solid concept and illustrator work though.

Great suggestion... is lucky cat copyright?
