Will it be hard to see? I didn't want it to stick out too much.. Perhaps going with a darker shirt color and making the city/smoke/clouds white would've been better.. Thanks though. I'll see what changing the colors around does.

ansharp wrote:1'' from the seams is misleading. That only applies to the sides, really. you can't have anything on the shoulders or higher than 1" below the collar. Download the pdf of woot's shirt template for reference. It shows a bounding box of the printable 16'' x 20" area.

I've got a shirt from a way back derby called "follow the leader". It has a bug light hanging from a line, and it goes almost clean up to the shoulder, even higher than this one. So they *can* print it. They of course may decide not do, but don't say they wont.

This is brilliant. It's one of those designs that you can look at 5 times and find something new each time.

I like this idea, and it's pretty well done. However, the Greek key motif you have around the circle should be continuous as it stands for eternity and is thus an unbroken pattern.

Counter clockwise? This would be so much better on something not cream. I like the design a lot, otherwise.

I'm aware of that. There is nothing that suggests it being an ace except having the big heart in the middle. But honestly this idea is not very good anyway and not worth putting any more time on it. I wouldnt vote for it if i was everyone else.

While koi has been done quite a few times already, I really like yours. It has your signature gritty and urban look to it.

Re: Humans as Resources

Really hoped the simplicity of this design would get it some attention. I think maybe I should have made the detail a little better.

Re: UNION

I'll try this for a third time from a third computer (for some reason my posts are not appearing). Sorry if I end up making a triple post here. Just trying to get my post up finally.

The union: cornerstone of American workers' rights and impetus of labor laws. As I mentioned in the forum, my design spells out UNION in a stylized, unified way with the simple abstract background figures symbolizing a unified (unionized) mass of workers. Strength in numbers. I realize it may be a bit difficult to read and I contemplated closing up the small space between the UN and ON to improve legibility, but decided not to so that all of the letters would be directly connected and thus form one shape (the word is UNION afterall). I preferred the red, white, and blue color scheme to the others I tried. Another thing I was shooting for was a design that could stand on its own outside of the derby theme. I think I was able to do that with the design as UNION carries many meanings, not just in reference to labor unions. I hope you like it. If so, please consider voting for it. If not, I welcome any and all feedback, especially suggestions for improvements to the design. Thanks for checking it out.

Lawl...

"Oh noes... more koi" ... "Oh noes... the shirts haz no cubicle"

C'mon. We've had multiple birds, trees, turtles, etc., and art is totally work related.

The browns against the grays don't quite work for me, but I love your lines and inky-ness as always. =D

Maybe my vote will help kls. I really dig this. Way up my alley, style-wise and content-wise. I hope you get back to fogland soon. I had a similar idea (in style) but mine was a central worker's head surrounded by the chaos of a busy work day to the point where the head is enveloped. Couldn't pull it off in too short a time so I scratched it. Now that I see yours, I'm glad I did because it is excellent. Best of luck.

JadenKale wrote:Or... they just like MC Escher more and will vote for that one instead ;)

Or they'll do as I did and vote for them both. I can completely relate to this. I've actually made a few of my "masterpieces" in meetings, honestly some of it is among my favorite work. I guess some of the meetings just put me in that zone. The only problem I have is most of the pieces aren't easily transferrable because they are on lined pad paper or graph paper. Best of luck with both of your designs.

Re: Urban Painter

"If you're at work, you're surrounded by inspiration for this week's theme. It's work, Morrissey's least favorite four-letter word, every bit as inevitable as death and taxes and sometimes even more humiliating. From the thrill of payday to the agony of mandatory meetings, from clock-in to clock out, from the deepest sewer to the highest skyscraper, work has a billion stories to tell. Find a good one and make a shirt out of it.
Text is allowed this week, but only if accompanied by graphics. In other words, no slogan-only shirts. But text can be a major element of your design."

There was no limitation here really. I am an artist, outside of my full time job, and it IS WORK! Designing these shirts is work...someone should have done a shirt about shirts....GMV!
