great ship, great octopus, and what fabulous orange suction cups on the tentacles. I really wish this would get a big jump in votes!

I'll give you that it's funny. And I'm an old computer nerd.

But execution is lacking...so much more could have been done with this concept other than a picture of a boot and a simple speech bubble.

Love the idea, just can't vote for it.

Re: Inspired by Sleepless In Seattle

You know the story. Guy moves to Seattle, falls in love with espresso based drinks. Can't sleep, tries to count sleep only to find coffee beans. The question begs, will he find his true love, decaffeinated? AND WHY ISN'T HE WOOTING?

This is very interesting, but I wanted to let you know that the film is called "The Serpent and The Rainbow" - don't know if that will cause you a problem with the mods.

I think it would be better if you didn't have the squares and instead had the arms more smoothly integrated.

AdderXYU wrote:And thus, having hacked through the jungle, merciless against its beauty, the dark army wooted their way toward their next enemy. Voting with the blind passion of war they bolstered their troops so mightily that the robot could no longer stand, tho it fought bravely against the madmen in its path. "No more," cried the wooty throng... "no more shalt we allow that which art hath made to stand in the way of common folk."

And so it came to pass that the knaves stood through many fights against such novelty, as though they singlemindedly despised the artful as tho it were craven trickery. And thus they did live out their years, in their makeshift shacks, among the forests of tree-and-bird, and by the river where the turtle doth teem, and they lived simply, for frivolity is sinful, save for the pursuit of that carp that from bags doth come.

DavidShenoda wrote:Well, I find myself wanting to tell you the same thing that people often times tell me. I love your illustration, but I'm not so sure about the "wearability" factor of this shirt. I think the color scheme you chose does not do the design justice. Maybe brighter colors with some more contrast would help to really make the linework pop of the shirt.

Either way, I think it is a great design. Keep up the good work, Sir - uhhh, or madam, and welcome to woot. I don't believe I've seen a posting from you before.

Thanks for your input. This is my 2nd derby and yes, I am a sir. I mean this no disrespect to anyone, but I find myself thinking the same thing about a few of the past winners. It isn't "hate". I think someone comes up with a very cleaver pun and knocks it out of the park and my 1st instinct is to vote it up, but then I'll really look at the design and think "yeah, but would I wear that?" I totally understand your point and hopefully more folks disagree with you, hehe.

I did want a more old school comic book look to it so I avoided bright colors. Hopefully this doesn't bite me in the butt.

AnnaJo wrote:I too, love your illustration. It gets my vote! While I don't have a problem with the color, I think it would do better without that black and yellow zig-zag panel behind the tortoise. I think it would make him stand out more. Great job!

Thanks for your feedback and vote. I really like your sin city submission as well. Glad you took it off white and maybe I didn't notice it before, I like how you added the deadly sins (PS, I'd wear your shirt, so good luck).
