I apologize as well. I wasnt really offended. I'll try to explain a little better... I have been around alot of artists who feel as though their art and their opinion on art is the "all knowing final word" and it truly gets under my skin. Because in my opinion, no matter how good of an artist you are, there is always going to be someone better. If the first sentence was removed from his statement, I would have no problems at all with what he said. But with the way in which he began his opinion or statement, it immediately reminded me of a smug know-it-all artist and I will admit that I put up a defensive from then on. I enjoy this website, I just don't enjoy some of the people and you get that with anything like this, show I will just shut up from now on and just let people say what they want to say...hahaha. Good luck this week.

Re: He's totally gonna make it.

Reminds me of words which I have always found motivational:

It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life doesn't lie in not reaching your goal.
The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.

It is not a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled.
But it is a calamity not to dream.

It is not a disaster to be unable to capture your ideal,
But it is a disaster to have no ideal to capture.

It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars.
But it is a disgrace not to have stars to reach for.

Not failure, but low aim is a sin.

sekiyoku wrote:Then why do men's shirts sell out earliest in random shirts? xD

I'm not sure, but I'll give a couple of guesses:

1) Americans are huge!

2) almost no guys are going to buy women's-sized shirts. lots of women will buy men's sized shirts. ergo, sales of men's sized shirts are higher, faster, since both men and women buy them.

3) and men buy bargains.

A little Louis Armstrong . . . to lighten the mood.

I see shirts of green, and magenta too
I see stick figures, and cute monsters too
And I think to myself . . . what a wonderful world.

I see folks ignoring . . . adder x-y-u,
No one responding, not saying ‘boo’
And I think to myself . . . what a wonderful world.

The colors of our shirts . . . so pretty on us guys
The admiration on faces of every passer by
I see glorious works, with no artistic truths
And people ignoring – adder . . . x-y-u.

Not even close.

Number of shirt.woots in 08: 23 (not counting randoms and shirts bought for friends)

Eh, I don't know. I love the design, a lot of us love the design, but I can't help but feel this would have votes worthy of being solidly in the fog if it would sellout THAT fast. I don't doubt it would sell out.

PhilSandifer wrote:I dunno, this one just isn't doing it for me. I'm all for the cute monster concept, and I like the idea, but the look and composition is just leaving me cold - the monster is wide-eyed, but doesn't have any real energy for me, and the buildings look... I dunno. The unrealistic look of them just doesn't work for me.

Nice concept, but I just don't dig the execution.

Yeah, I feel the unrealistic look of the buildings really clashes with the hyper realism of the monster bouncing off into the foreground.[/sarcasm]

I think a lot of what you said makes some sort of sense, but I just don't get this particular criticism.

Legibility of a good shirt from 75 feet away shouldn't be a concern, in my opinion. Especially with all of the people clambering for more art and detail here.

This design is priceless. There is nothing more valuable than simplicity...for it is a sign of cleanliness, which, no doubt, is next to Godliness. Do I want to look at people and know what kind of beer they drink, just by looking at their shirt? No. In fact, I would rather not know that they drink at all. Does it please my eye to see a mess of colors and shapes on a shirt? You tell me. You've gotta have a pretty messed up mind to take pleasure in obnoxious brand names and designes on a shirt.

I'm not a huge fan of stick figures either Adder but this one isn't bad... I wouldn't complain if it came in a random.

You should really consider though the possibility that at any given second there are several thousand people on the internet who are wrong... at least several thousand... per second.
Probably more.
If you were to devote your life to correcting them all, even just the ones posting on woot forums, you'd wind up with nearly 5000 posts on shirt.woot.com/forums (oh wait) and a lot less time to do important things like eat sleep and go to the bathroom.

This was one of the only designs that riled some laughter out of me, and I definitely would have voted had it not been for the baby blue. That color shirt just looks and feels sloppy when I wear it. It's just a personal dislike of baby blue shirts; the design itself was really amusing.

Re: When life gives you lemons.. make lemon-aid.

Really enjoying that sharp contrast of yellow and cranberry, but the yellow bandages in the box struck me as peeled lemon skin. Is that peel? Did these little guys get their exteriors ripped off?

It makes me laugh to think of the shirt with just one huge smiling lemon; bring these back in a future derby!
